I didn't get to see a lot of the combine but what I was able to see with Hurts I really liked. I thought he threw the ball very well and really liked his deep throws from what I seen. This has nothing to do with pro or anti Dak by the way.

What round would you guys draft Hurts if he happened to be there? Would you draft him at all?

Many know I like Dak but if Hurts was there in the second or later I would be very tempted in giving it a try, depending on who is available. If Dak signs a short term deal that allows Hurts to develop and potentially be a better backup than Rush. If Dak signs long term than perhaps McCarthy can develop Hurts enough to get a first or second round pick.

I’d take him in the 4th if he’s still there.

I wouldn’t
We have way too many needs to be spending a pick on a backup
This draft we have to get 2-3 starters and we have the opportunity to hit on late picks who could start if we look kicker/punter
If we hit 2-3 starter quality players in top 5 picks and got a kicker/punter late we can really maximize this draft

He helped his draft stock quite a bit by throwing well.

I have seen a couple of drafts that have him going in the middle of the 2nd round. I little high for my taste.

I like the kid from Florida International. Great arm, but needs work. Boom or bust type. I'd take him in the 4th or 5th round if he makes it that far.

Problem w Hurts is .you'd have to create a specized offense ...you could just throw him I to a Pro type of offense...kinda like what Ravens did for Jackson..He wouldnt fit our current style or West Coast that McCarthy ran

I think Hurts will go in the second round personally. Some team will decide that they will work on his accuracy and can get a guy who can compete for your starting job. A team with an entrenched QB climbing in age (GB, NE) is the kind of landing sport I see for him.

2 nd i rather have

James Morgan, QB, Florida International than

Hurts

I just don't see any upside there to make him a 2nd rounder.

He is a low ceiling player.

I think in a year he would make a solid NFL starter and in Dallas he could probably match what Dak does in a lot of ways but most teams won't have as optimal of an environment as Dallas has for him to start from.

I disagree. He and Dak are virtually identical coming out of school and he has played in that Alabama system so he is familiar with similar concepts.

I think he has value immediately as a gadget type player in the red zone like the
Saints use the guy from BYU. I'd say 4th or 5th round ares. Long term hopefully more than a gadget player long term.

Yeah but Hill is Super explosive.

Hurts is not an explosive athlete.

To me.. You're drafting a Dak Prescott starter kit with him.

All I know is he was good at finding the end zone with his feet in college.

Yeah he'll be solid at it in the Pro's too.. About like Dak. He's just no Taysom Hill.. That guy is rare.

Dak plays in a Pro type offense...Hurts played in a Spread offense....Hurts was good in college But he wont be able to run over people or past people in NFL

Hurts also played in a Pro offense at Bama.. Also, OU uses a lot of pro concepts.

Bama had him playing under center too so he is comfortable with that.

Maybe, to protect Dak from injury.

But Tayson Hill is much faster and more explosive than Jalen Hurts

MM will make damn sure we have another viable QB he can trust and develop behind Dak. QB is his wheel house.

Hurts couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn at Bama and Riley turned him into a functioning QB. People forget Bama was losing the NC with Hurts and Saban put in Tua at halftime and bombs away.

He’s a project IMO.

You think Taysom Hill is an explosive athlete? He's got pretty much the same measurables as Jeff Heath, and will be 30 before the season starts.

I agree but I think he is more prepared coming out of school then Dak was.

He'll probably go somewhere like Pittsburgh and be a solid QB in a few years. I just don't see any upside but I don't see a lot of downside either. At worst you will have a high end QB2.
