He looks to be pretty good player. Unfortunately we are petty loaded at WR so he won't get a lot of opportunities.

I'll never understand why they sat Flournoy for Tolbert. Flournoy already had a better career game than Tolbert ever had. And that was with Lamb out.

Makes zero sense to me. I don't get the rationale..

Disagree. A 5 or a 6 doesn't catch almost 50 balls for 600+ yards and 7 TDs in a season. He's a 3 or a 4 on most teams.
The issue here is he's out of time and we have other guys who are not (Mingo and Flournoy) so they move up in the pecking order since they are signed for next season. It's the way the NFL works.
Tolbert will go somewhere next season and may become a good player elsewhere. I'm not defending him, he had a chance after last year to cement himself as a top 3 for us and he did not. He even got passed up by Turpin as the #3., so he had his chance here and didn't make the most of it. He'll get a chance somewhere else.

JAG WRs go out and out up 600 yard seasons pretty much every year due to a high volume of playing time over quality play. Look no further than our very own practice squad in exhibit A in Paris Campbell who did the exact same thing putting up 600 yards on 500+ routes only to be a fringe end of roster guy ever since.

I kinda suspect they were trying to get Tolbert snaps to showcase him for a trade. Only explanation I can come up with.

He's not, and he'll have a chance to prove it somewhere else as his time has run out here and he isn't in our top 3.

I agree he will get a chance to compete next year in someones camp, but the odds of him winning anything more than a WR4-6 spot seems pretty unlikely and probably goes the Parris Campbell route of being mostly ineffective and bouncing around the league.

When I compare Parris Campbell to Tolbert I mean in terms of their career years and how they got to those numbers

Campbell - 63 catches for 623 yards on 604 routes ran
Tolbert - 49 catches for 610 yards on 553 routes

Right around that 1 yard per route ran is replacement level production.

Looking at last years 600-700ish yard WRs in that Tolbert range:

• Tyler Lockett - 600 yards on 545 routes
• D Hop - 610 yards on 357 routes
• Romeo Doubs - 601 yards on 360 routes
• Christian Watson - 620 yards on 274 routes
• Deebo Samuel - 670 yards on 420 routes
• Darius Slayton - 573 yards on 531 routes
• Adam Theilen - 615 yards on 299 routes
• Demario Douglas - 621 yards on 442 routes
• Xavier Worthy - 638 yards on 516 routes
• Ray Ray McCloud - 686 yards on 547 routes
• Wandale Robinson 699 yards on 579 routes
• Tank Dell 667 yards on 447 routes

There are always going to be some outliers due to age drop offs (Theilen), injury situations (Deebo), etc.but for the most part we can probably look at this list and get a good idea of who is having good seasons this year and who isnt. It shouldn't be a huge surprise that Tyler Lockett is putting up horrid numbers being in a bad offense and showing signs of regression last year. Meanwhile every fantasy football player should be trying to trade for Christian Watson coming back from injury before its too late. It also shouldnt be a huge surprise to see Tolbert struggling to put up numbers this year while getting fewer snaps. Product of quantity over quality IMO.

Same here. It's the only thing that makes sense. But we need guys who help us win.

At this point, Tolbert is a JAG. Hate to say that because I was for drafting him. It's just sometimes you miss and it's better to move on than hold on..

He isn't terrible. But he also doesn't move the proverbial needle..
