Jamaal Charles Needs to wear the STAR...

I'd consider him if he could prove that he could count the number of points on a star without using his fingers.

I hate threads about players from OU and UT that I haven't seen alot of on this forum. I can never tell if it's just OU and UT fans hatin' on each others players, or if it's legit concerns. I will say that I have no idea what you're talking about, Wood. His steps always appeared very quick and compact to me, until he got in the open.

My allegiance happens to fall like this:

  1. TCU
  2. UT
  3. OU

Many people can't understand how I can like OU and Texas. Easy, they were always on TV and were close to home. I'm a homer so Texas always took precedence over OU. Of course I grew up in Fort Worth, so TCU *IS* the home town favorite.

Now on that note, I don't like Charles so much. Yeah he is fast among other things, but the tools that I look for that translate to the NFL. He doesn't have many of them.

Of course every year, people call me stupid for my opinions. Then again, I've never been wrong. :) ;)

Good back. We can do better. Depends on whether they want to go RB, CB, or WR with first two picks. After DMac, Stewart, Mendenhall, Johnson, and Jones there is a drop off IMO. Charles is ranked with those RBs in many peoples polls but I don't see the lateral and cutback abilities I'd like to see. He's still a good RB and has speed.

I'd rather see Chris Johnson or Felix Jones on the team. I don't know whether or not they will be there at 22 and esp 28. But RBs do tend to drop in drafts.

I can't see Chris Johnson seeing falling out of the first round.

He's been projected as a 2nd round back for some time now, so that wouldn't be falling.

The only reason people are going nuts over him is because of what he ran at the combine.

I'm not saying he doesn't go late in the 1st, but he has been projected as a second round talent for quite a while now.

Most still consider him as being the leader in the 2nd tier of RB's in the draft. McFadden, Mendenhall and Stewart being the 1st tier.

I want to see the star on Jamaal because the first 2 picks need to go CB and WR... I think he will be available mid 2nd rd but there is a chance Seattle will take him with the 25th pick. We can still get our 2 1st rd needs and hopefully be able to grab Charles in the 2nd rd. I think he will be like witten who was 1st talent but for some reason dropped to the 3rd rd.

I agree w/ Count here. CJ or Charles could go late in Rd 1, but most have them in Round 2 and some have Jamaal in Rd 3...which would then make him a value pick IMO.

I would be so stoked if we were able to get

DRC
Sweed
Charles

he would be a great pickup if he can stay out of his own way once he starts playing (fumbles when he is barely touched) but he is a great athlete and if someone can teach him to stop carrying the ball like a loaf of bread he would be a great change up to MB3

Boys don't need a change of pace RB out of the draft.. They need a potential future starter. There only back under contract right now is Cricket Anderson.. When and if Barber Signs with the Boys he's one shot away from being hurt.. Draft the most complete back.. and don't look back..

I dont want a "3rd down" back

I want Barber in there on 3rd downs!!! We need to draft a back who forces the defense to scheme for his speed. We have Barber to pound it out and wear the defense down... Charles brings raw, gamebreaking, speed for the defense to contend with as well. Charles should be a great change of pace back who should also be able to fill the starter role for stretches if needed.

Anyone who says they watched any Texas games knows that Charles got a TON of yards in an insanely simple offense. I think UT had about six running plays for the defenses to gameplan against. Charles is a good, solid RB and I wouldn't mind it a bit if we did what it took to move up for him in the 2nd round.

I can't see him going before Chris Johnson.

why not? he's a tad bigger, looks as fast (if not faster) on the field and was more productive against FAR better competition

I'm not saying I want him here, but I could definitely see him going ahead of Johnson...the only Johnson really has on him is more production catching the ball out of the backfield

your in for a shock then...he isnt going in the first rd

he'll be closer to the 3rd rd than the 1st

I would not be surprised if 2 RB's and 2 CB's are drafted this year..

He will have a Tatum Bell, Kevin Jones, Julius Jones type career in my opinion.

Thats if he is lucky.

Charles is a much more physical, not to mention faster, RB than Julius Jones. Julius never met an arm tackle that he could break. And Charles has much better vision than Kevin Jones.

All world speed plus toughness are rare, even in the NFL.

+1 seriously, guys like him must work for the cardinals/lions as scouts because they never can seem to get over the hump.

I would not be mad if we draft Charles in the 2nd and then Johnson in the 3rd if he is still there....then get Schmitt in the 4th

Barber
Charles
Johnson
Cricket
Schmitt

yeah our backfield would be downright lethal and versatile.....we would be able to go speed and finesse...or we could go outright power (Schmitt blocking for Barber)

Draft either Sweed or Hardy in the 1st and our offense would be absolutely insane for the future.
