It might be more indicative of not having good depth at safety, but going back and taking a closer look at the defense, Showers probably played better than most of the safeties we put out there Thursday. He also played extensively on special teams.

I figure we're keeping four safeties this year because of a lack of quality depth at the position relative to others. Woods, Heath and Frazier are pretty much locks. I figure someone like Kam Kelly or Tyree Robinson would take the last spot, but I'd give Showers the leg up right now. Plenty of time for that to change, though.

radical change of position,, so we shall see. Plenty of time for rain.

If he proves to be good enough then sign me up. We need all the quality at safety we can get. We should get a good long look in preseason.

It is, but he’s been working on the conversion for a few years now, so maybe there’s a chance.

I didn’t realize he was still on the team.

They must have told him something to get him to keep trying. I imagine if I was cut after camp by the same team twice I would try a different team the next year.

I like his heart.

Jameil Showers has proven he can excel when he can out-athlete people. That's why he makes such a great special teamer. He just has to run to the ball. I don't think he has much shot at being a starter anywhere though.

Id love to see this guy make the team.

It would be nice if he's this generation's Charlie Waters - a QB, turned receiver, turned corner, turned Pro-Bowl safety.

He played well ... hopefully all his hard work pays off with a roster spot...

Time for his chance to be worthy or hit the road jack,, and don't come back no more no more, hit the road jack,, and don't come back no more.

He will probably get a roster spot if our depth stays the same.
