James Arness has died

An old cowboy that I knew as a kid has this on his tombstone. I think it fits this news.

The Cowboy's Prayer

May the road rise up to meet your feet,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the rains fall soft upon you,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

R.I.P. Marshall Dillon.

Generations of folks loved your show and your character, Mr. Arness. Rest in peace, Marshall Dillon.

I know he acted in many different shows or movies but I can only remember him as Marshall Dillon.

RIP Mr. Arness. You entertained a lot of people over your lifetime.

Me too. He helped make the original The Thing movie a classic, but that and Gunsmoke are the two main things (no pun intended) which I remember him most for.

Well, this is sad news for me. As a small boy, I remember watching Gun Smoke with my Grandparents on TV. I didn't understand till later but basically, my Grandma loved James Arnes. She had a big old crush on him and my Grandpa hated him.

:laugh2:

Anyhow, they are all gone now but I still have very fond memories of watching those old shows with my Grandparents.

RIP James Arnes

Awww..an iconic television actor! He fit the part perfectly....I watch it still sometime & amazingly so many now famous actors were on GUNSMOKE. I watched not long ago & Harrison Ford was on there!

R.I.P. James
