Guy looked like he might make a decent weapon for us as the 3rd TE. Kinda reminded me of Doug Cosbie ( not the same caliber of player necessarily but in the way they look on the field)

I thought he looked really good. He showed good hands and he got open with ease.

Wanted to see him play but i didnt notice him or hear his name.

He kind of looked like Dallas Clark to me...not in play style or quality of play but in his body type...kind of short but filled out. He was just shorter than I expected. I saw him with the ball, and I thought "that's Hanna??" He looks like a fullback.

Gruden had a name for the kind of TE he reminded him of...I wish I could remember it...it was kind of funny.

I think he is both bigger and faster than Dallas Clark.

Dallas Clark had elite quickness, good football IQ and very good hands. He was basically a big WR.

Hanna can be a far more versatile weapon who can play some FB, some HB, some TE and some WR. If you look at his numbers he has WR type athleticism. The trouble with him was always his hands and routes but these seem to have improved markedly already through mini-camp, OTA and half of a TC. He has lots of potential and he may finally be realizing it here. I wonder if the staff saw something on film that made them think they could correct the flaws in his game.

The TE who has come out recently who he reminds me most of is Keller from the Jets who went in the mid 2nd round a few years ago. The only thing is I think Hanna is a much better blocker. Playing here with Witten will also make him a better pro and a better blocker.

Right now I'm pretty happy with our picks after the fourth and UDFAs. I think we've found a number of contributors:

Wilber
Hanna
Adrian Hamilton
Lionel Smith
Andre Holmes (I'll add him here because he didn't play last year)

Then there are players that I need to see more:

Matt Johnson
Danny Coale
Cole Beasley
Tim Benford
Ben Bass

At the end of the draft I didn't think much of our last two picks in McSurdy and Hanna. I still don't think much of McSurdy but I see Hanna becoming a major contributor. I think he is going to steal a lot of reps from Phillips because of his superior athleticism and the ability to force major matchup issues out there. The problem with Bennett is that when we went 2 TEs we couldn't threaten much in the passing game so teams would stay in their base defense. Now if both Witten and Hanna are out there they may prefer to put out their nickel defense which we should be able to run on successfully. I already have visions of Hanna running down the seam and leaving OLBs in the dust with his 4.49 speed, 4.11 shuttle, 6.76 3cone and 36.5 inch vertical. I really think he could be the player we thought we were getting in MartyB in the passing game but he'll never be the in-line blocker that MartyB was.

Then you must not have watched the game at all. He caught 2 balls for about 15 yards.

He's 6'4.

Well put. I felt exactly the same way about Hanna and McSurdy. I thought Hanna was just going to be some athletic project. I don't like it when I hear that a guy has bad or questionable hands. I've found that most guys that have these issues may improve but will still have suspect hands in the end. It looks like Hanna's hands are really improving, he's very athletic, and he has not looked terrible blocking. He also comes off as a bright guy. He appears to have a high ceiling. Our draft picks and UDFAs are looking good thus far. We need to have drafts like this to make up for drafts like 2009.

" Joker" .........Much more of a receiving threat than a blocking T.E.

Can also play multiple positions. Chris Cooley type.

I'm very hopeful he can be a weapon for us. Consistency and blocking are the issues with him.

Before Parcells.............people in here used that phrase rarely.

During and after Parcells.......Everybody and his cousin Louie uses that phrase like its going otta style!....:D

Not picking on YOU personally,...just something I noticed .

Just watch......Now with Garrett every poster in here will start including " its a process" in every other post somehow. Funny.

I want them to make use of his speed and try to stretch the field.

To small cant even tell if hes a FB or a TE on tv. Plus i heard he wore his hat backwards before. Cut him

"Joker Deluxe"

Hanna had a solid game in my opinion. He caught some balls. And he had a really nice special teams tackle. He was in good position and made a solid tackle on a kickoff (or was it a punt?).

So far, pretty good. At minimum, Hanna should push Phillips who knows he now has some competition and can't just sit back.

I thought he looked good. I was very happy when the Cowboys drafted him and I think it is going to pay off big time. NO he is not huge but he is as big as many tightends in the NFL. he is much bigger than that 2nd TE in New England. I think Gates was only 6'4. he caught everything thrown his way. caught with his hands and look good on special teams. What more could you want for the first preseason game
