I would like to see James Hanna show some of his speed this weekend in 2 TE sets. Not necessarily on a go route down the seam (although if that can pressure some safeties, no complaint), but on some drags and outs. As another thread indicates, teams pretty often play us two deep and make us dink and dunk.

I think a second TE like Hanna can stretch their linebackers, freeze their safeties in the seam (and allow some more deep routes by the WRs), and help in the run game as well.

If Ogletree could come out of no where and dominate as the third option, I see no reason we can't give a couple of looks at Hanna as well.

Best case is that this would help in the redzone as well, where we have been pretty poor.

Agreed. I think he can strecth the field. It's making me sick to my stomach seeing what Marty B. is doing with the midgets. Austin and Witten are the only reliable receivers at this point. It's time to see what he can do.

I would like the 2 TE sets. I think a lot of posters would agree that it can't be worse than the 3wr sets we have now.

Yeppers, I think I think that Hanna should have more than one reception after six games. Maybe this week he will get an oppurtunity to do so.

He'll get his chance if witten or phillips goes down. That's how this team works

We run really well out of 2 TE. Maybe not as well as we did with Bennett, who is a beast blocker, but it serves us well on runs IMO when we go to the left side.

If Hanna is a blocker I would like to see us call pass plays from this formation where both Hanna and Witten have a route but can be checked into protection as the defense dictates.

Final statement, I see no reason why we shouldn't use the 2TE set, balanced or unbalanced, to start 1st down series. It requires you to respect both facets, a guy like Hanna can pick up 3-4 yards on a drag or witten in the seam. Safe passes to get some yardage through either way.

I see Hanna as our future starter, maybe as soon as three years. So far, he is not being utilized and our offense needs to start implementing him into the offense slowly. If Witten was to get hurt in the future, Hanna will be that much more prepared.

It is frustrating not to see our future out there at all, i.e. Hanna, Beasley, Dunbar(only saw him mainly due to injury), Harris. There is only so much coaches can judge in practice, they need some playing time so they will know what they really have IMO.

Why does it seem our promising back-ups get so little playing time and their only hope is due to injuries?

Clearly, Ogletree is not the answer, so take him out and try two TE sets, put Cole in the slot or give Harris some opportunities to showcase what he has.

I thought we would've seen him a lot more this year than we have.

He must be very slow learning the offense. We could definetely use a player with his skill set.

Question?

Do you think Hanna could run that TE screen that Marty B ran a few times? I never saw much of him in college and was wondering if that would fit his skillset.

I feel like he could do anything you want in the passing game. Line him up in the slot or on the LOS and let him work.

Ran a 4.58 did he?

We could probably use him on 3 WR sets and motion him outside to convert it to a 4 WR set. Should create matchup problems for the opponents.

Hahaha. I know you did not mean anything humorous here but those screens to Marty were some of the highlights of Jason Garrett's "Classic Blunders". The first is never fight a landwar in Asia, never wage a battle of wits with a Cicilian when death is on the line, and even less well known is sending the tallest offensive player out on a screen pass in the flat. Instead, Eli is setting new records of QB IQ points by throwing high passes to the tallest receiver on the field.

Brilliant.

I just have a feeling that Eli would try some mind blowing trickery like use Hanna on a deep route with a mismatch on a LB or S.

Sigh.

I wish we still had Jesse Holley. Dude never dropped a single pass thrown his way. :D

Hanna? Who the heck is he?

Oh yes, I remember. One of the handful of players on offense that showed promise in PS, ie. Beasly, etc. In fact last time we played the Gmen he and Beasly actually played. But now they will have to wait until somebody gets injured. :(

Would like to see more of him. I guess phillips isnt going to be what i thought he was.

He couldnt even get playing time during Chicago's blowout because they kept Witten in the game. I dont see many minutes or snaps for him unless there is an injury.
