James Houston never wanted to rush the passer

IF we now have a DC with brains, he might flourish or he might not

I can see Houston being a "secret weapon" kind of guy this season — coming off the bench and killing a drive on 3rd and long. I'm not saying he's gonna get 12 sacks... maybe only 6, but a few of them being pivotal.

Your hate never stops. Let us have one positive thread.

I don't think he was trying to hate on Houston, he was just speaking on where he was a little weaker in his skillset. Thats not hate, thats reality.

Look at how good Parsons was for us at rushing the quarterback. He was a liability against the run game though.

I think he was making the point about how the vast majority of his posts are filled with venom

I still remember the 98 draft….i was LIVID they took Ellis instead of moss. It was a Saturday, I was in high school, I was sooooo hyped to see moss drop to us……then the pick…… I turned the tv off and went upstairs.
With all the problems we were having with PR and so on, and Randy Moss seemed like more of the same, no surprise we passed on him
and a great WR would not have mattered as by that time our OL was going downhill with the exception of LA, and the D was a shell of itself. Our drafts were putrid. We would not have done much better even if we had gotten Moss.

“ I turned the TV off went upstairs “ I hear you man .

I continue to overlook him. He played well last year. Not sure what ‘advanced metrics’ might have to say, but he passed the eye test for me.
For a guy who played 28% of snaps he was very effective. 5.5 sacks, 19 pressure, 13 QB hits, 18 solo tackles. He certainly made an impact when he was on the field though some would have been in obvious passing situation so easier to rush

Please no injury risk vets at the end . Play these young players you’ve drafted and a guy like Houston you were lucky to get from Detroit

Yep, but still rather have more of a deep rotation and some really good DTs over one HOF pass rusher.

I know, yeah, after Jimmy left the drafts got weak…..but man, I wanted to see Moss across from Irvin!

I think teams, not all but many feel the same way. A good overal defense wins more than a couple of super stars and weaker players filling the rest

Agree, but I’m not so sure Jerry ever thought that way. He likes his stars. Middle and bottom of roster be damned.

Yeah, funny how he said they were disrespecting him when they are telling him how he can make it to the league.
Yeah I noticed that too. I wonder if he's gotten rid of the attitude and is willing to be coached up hard.
I'm not sure he makes the squad.
