Jamie’s Notes from Day of Practice

1)The team spent a lot of time today working on the short passing game.
That included a bunch of normal screens and even bubble and slip screens
behind the line of scrimmage. You can tell Offensive Coordinator Jason
Garrett has added a few wrinkles to the offense.

2)The secondary looks much quicker, especially at the safety position. Ken
Hamlin is 100% again and Gerald Sensabaugh replaces Roy Williams and is a
major upgrade in the speed department.

3)Roy Williams still has a lot to prove, but he certainly was impressive
today. The new no. 1 receiver did not drop a ball on day one and showed
great hands and footwork. The Boys can only hope he continues to look as
good once the team start playing games that count.

4)Stephen McGee looks the part of an NFL quarterback. He showed very good
arm strength and great zip on the ball on the first day of practice.
Speaking of McGee, he and WR Roy Williams shared a game of catch and a
laugh in between drills. Imagine that, an Aggie and Longhorn playing
together nicely!

5)Isiah Stanback was the lucky man on the deep routes today catching 2
long passes for scores. Gilmer’s Manuel Johnson also pulled in a 50 yard
score during his first practice of camp.

6)There were a lot of #81 jersey’s in the crowd today. I was shocked to
see that much love for rookie free agent wide receiver Mike Jefferson. Ha,
Ha!!

Some nice things there, I would love to see more screens to Felix and it seems that Sensabaugh is gonna help us alot.

We need to develop the short passing game to stop teams from trying to knock Tony's head off every play. Making this division pay for being so aggressive up the middle should be a top priority for JG.

that is the one thing barely mentioned here that pissed me off the most the past few years that other teams do to us ALL THE TIME! They let our pass rush progress and close in on the QB which then the QB throws it over the rushers shoulders to a RB waiting there in the clear with plenty of room to run.
I know that is designed, but it is about time we design our offense to do more of that.
