I see trade down all the way -

1 Derek Sherrod, OT 6-6 #305 Mississippi State

Doug Free played well at ROT last year in Columbo's absence and with the top LOT still on the board, why not have the flexibility of 2 athletic young bookends that are interchangeable? Sure makes game-day decisions of whittling down 53 to 45 easier, in the case of deciding on back-up OL in the case of injuries. This is a case where value equals need and is a fine pick by Dallas

2 Brandon Burton, CB, Utah 6-1 #190 - Uses above-average agility and athleticism very well, utilizes quick footwork to get off blocks and in position to make tackles along the outside... Has good, quick feet, keeps feet underneath him well in the backpedal... Is a good wrap-up tackler, plays with much more physicality than size would indicate, generally wraps up and holds on with consistency... Has good vertical leap and ball skills when leaving his feet, goes up and gets the ball consistently at its highest point... Shows flexibility and fluid hips, turns well when playing bump-and-run coverage... Is an above-average man defender and adequate zone defender, will have little problem fitting into several systems in the NFL

3a Jaiquawn Jarrett, FS, Temple 6-1 #195 - Intelligent player with the football instincts necessary to start at the next level. Though he likes to attack run plays before the snap, his quickness and football intelligence allows him to get back into the deep third to be a factor in play action. Patient on misdirection, keeps his eyes in the backfield, plants and drives to the ball once it's clear where the play is going

3 Kristofer O'Dowd C USC 6-4 #300 - Versatile, could get some looks at Guard... Heady, good instincts for the position... Explosive... Good pass blocker, quick first step... Quick pass set... Uses his hands well... Good footwork, good lateral movement and slide... Blocks with solid leverage in pass protection... Does a nice job redirecting... Very solid run blocker... Adequate strength at POA... Can generate solid power... Plays with a solid base... Very good contact balance... Gets to the second level and seals linebackers okay

4 Dwayne Harris, WR/KR, East Carolina 6-0 #205 Good hands, doesn't drop a lot of balls... Reliable player, comes up big on third downs and at the end of games... Good route runner, likes to work the middle of the field, does most of his work within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage... Solid burst off the line of scrimmage, can get separation in man coverage... Cuts well, very elusive in the open field... Hard runner, tough guy to bring down when he gets going, gets a lot of yards after the catch

5 Tejay Johnson, SS, TCU 6-1 #215 - Johnson has been singled out by head coach Gary Patterson for his on-field leadership as a three-year starter. TCU has led the nation in defense all three of those seasons. Johnson ranks third on the Horned Frogs with 46 tackles.

6 Karl Klug DE/DT Iowa – Klug is a big guy who takes up space on the line and can shut down the running lanes. He's forced three fumbles this year and had four sacks. His ability to get to the quarterback and force turnovers definitely will get the scouts attention this spring

7 Chris Neilds NT WV 6-2 #300 - Started all 13 games … saw action on more than 645 plays, including a season high 81 against UConn … used on 50 or more plays in nine games

I would be pleased with Sherrod in a trade down, Burton I don't know a ton about but seems like an interesting prospect.

Jarrett however, strikes me as more of a SS than a FS.

I'm definitely disappointed that it's starting to look more and more like all the top rated guys may be gone before our pick, hopefully if it really shakes out that way we look to move up or stock pile future picks.

I really don't want to trade down and end up taking lesser talent like we've done in the past, I say either be aggressive and go get the guy you want, or stock pile picks like the Pats.

gawd that be nice - Jerry needs to pay more attention to the Pats

I have never Seen Jarrett play - just going on what I read about him

I was hoping for D Willims we could fit right in there but I think we go shopping for a FS

an really Sherrod is my best pick

I least I got until Apirl to work it out

i played with burton in high school, he was lazy at practice, i have watched him over the years, he is solid but his real strength has been being able to be physical with sub par WR in his division, he is nothing special and i don't believe he will be anything more than a sub par starter on a bad team, or solid backup on a good one. he is not worth a second round pick

Hater in The House! :laugh2:

Would love to see us get Dwayne Harris. Very dangerous in the return game too. Very humble guy and hard worker. I could see him taking the punt return duties and being a solid 3rd receiver.

naw i actually like the guy as a person but i just cant stand that i practiced as hard as i could everyday just to be average while guys like him would half *** it through drills but could just turn it on on Friday night.

but my assessment is not biased in anyway other than his practice habits in high school(which could have changed). even the assessment in unos post says he is more physical than size would indicate and i just believe that that was because of the level of competition he faced. i agree that he is a sure tackler though.

There seems to be about 5 OT`s that grade out fairly close to each other (mid to late first rounders). I`m not sure taking the first one off the board at 9 is the way to go. Ideally, you`d trade up from our second rounder to get the last one.

True. The OTs who could go in the first 45 picks or so are Sherrod, Tyron Smith, Castonzo, Solder, Carimi, and Love. If we can't trade down, I would pick Sherrod at #9. I'd like to see us sign Mankins and Seymour in FA and Draft go something like this:

1. Derek Sherrod, OT
2. Deunta Williams, FS
3. John Moffitt, OG or Curtis Brown, CB or Pernell McPhee, DE
