Jane knows how to fix the Cowboys

The problem is they are horrible at trading, both when they trade away players and when they trade for players.

Trading a 4th round pick for Lance at the time was questionable but reasonable despite the fact he was probably worth more of a 5th or 6th (again, before we saw him play and realized he wasn't).

Trading a 4th round pick for Mingo was stupid, especially with the way last season was going at the time. That is not a knock on Mingo but more about just not being worthy of a fourth round pick.

They traded Cooper away a few years ago for a 5th round pick and Cooper was (and may still be) a much better receiver than Mingo.

If they trade Parsons, I won't be surprised if they don't even get a 1st round pick despite the fact he should be worth at least two 1st round picks and probably more.

The front office failures with delaying contracts that they know they are going to ultimately sign which leads to them paying a lot more later, overpaying in draft picks for players they trade for and getting underpaid in draft picks for players they trade away are well known.

When Jane gives her thoughts on the nuts and bolts of the NFL and what a team needs to do, she reminds me a lot of the late great John Madden. If we read and listen, we can gain great wisdom.

Well to be honest, getting anything for him was the goal. The Cowboys were trading him no matter what.

And don't forget the Gilmore and Cooks trades. Trading down for Parsons and Beebe too.
Trading draft picks for draft picks is a no brainer. There has been a draft slot point chart available for decades so everyone knows what every pick is worth when trading for other picks.

They get absolutely no credit for that because you can bet if that chart did not exist, they would get screwed every time.

Gilmore was probably the only one worth his trade value in that it cost them a 5th round pick.

Brandin Cooks though was not worth two draft picks even if they were a 5th and 6th pick. At best he was worth a single 5th pick, but a 6th (just one) pick was more realistic.

For example, the Commanders just got Deebo for a 5th round pick and I consider him way better than Cooks.

I agree. The way they run their business is so dysfunctional. I don't how much more I can stand. The fans deserve better than this.
