Jane knows how to fix the Cowboys

The problem is they are horrible at trading, both when they trade away players and when they trade for players.

Trading a 4th round pick for Lance at the time was questionable but reasonable despite the fact he was probably worth more of a 5th or 6th (again, before we saw him play and realized he wasn't).

Trading a 4th round pick for Mingo was stupid, especially with the way last season was going at the time. That is not a knock on Mingo but more about just not being worthy of a fourth round pick.

They traded Cooper away a few years ago for a 5th round pick and Cooper was (and may still be) a much better receiver than Mingo.

If they trade Parsons, I won't be surprised if they don't even get a 1st round pick despite the fact he should be worth at least two 1st round picks and probably more.

The front office failures with delaying contracts that they know they are going to ultimately sign which leads to them paying a lot more later, overpaying in draft picks for players they trade for and getting underpaid in draft picks for players they trade away are well known.
This!!!!

I disagree completely. Look at the trades we’ve made lately. The Cowboys suck at trading. Fleeced every time.
Moves like Gilmore and Cooks are hard to hate on even though Cooks ended up banged up and limited his effectiveness. The trade for Cooper looked good for a few years, just had a falling out with the organization. The trade away though was terribly low compensation and felt like a fleece.

The 4th rounder for Lance, didn't work out but I'm not mad about taking a swing at a once promising qb. I don't know that the risk was much different than a typical 4th rounder. The Mingo trade was puzzling and the trajectory doesn't look great but let's give it another season.

All in all I wouldn't say the Cowboys got fleeced on all their recent trades. They haven't been truly fleeced since the Roy Williams move. I'm with Jane that exploring trades doesn't seem like a bad way to acquire players. It doesn't impact comp picks and even if they don't re-sign them maybe they get back similar compensation to what they traded for assuming they use day 3 picks.

They traded Coop for a 5th and the Browns turned around after a few years and traded him and got more ROI back with him having more mileage on him.

And every time a big name trade falls thru, i think it makes them that much more conservative and timid about trades

- it was that club made clever low risk/high reward late round trade like Gilmore, Brandin Cooks and DE Robert Griffin - those i don't mind and actually liked.
The aim is trying to acquire " Middle ground" key vet players to add to the nucleus of drafted pllayers.

- Then it's flat up to front office to try to get the Barkley or Derrick Henry to add to this group of players.- and coaches

- i didn't mind the trade for Trey Lance as he's a QB with physical tools and a number of 4th/middle rd picks end up being backup QBs.
Problem was we had coaches that were clueless and seemed disinterested in developing him. And we really need a push to upgrade over physically limited
Cooper Rush.

- i would have preferred late round to conditional type trade - as look at 1st rd busts QBs like Matt Jones and Justin Fields who were got for mere
late round picks

- The Mingo trade looked like a Jerry Jones push to make a trade - just for the sake- of making a mid-season trade of any kind, but I don't think Jerry knows
draft pick value and i had to think that's McClay surprise failing... why not go the route of " conditional late round instead of str8 up 4th round.
