There were multiple games this season where dak progressed through all his reads and made big plays. There’s so much to criticize dak for, he absolutely sucked yesterday but the 1 read or first read stuff is just silly fodder for fans looking for something
No…. They had Dak bail the pocket early when his early reads were not there. Breaking pocket and making a play on the fly is not “going through reads”.. this was how they simplified the offense for Dak.

Even Chris Collinsworth mentioned this about Dak and even talked about Dak saying it…. That’s the change they made with CeeDee after the 49ers game and why he was targeted so much. I think he was number 2 next to Tyreek hill.

Imagine it is a simple as taking away Dak's first read and he panics. And yet, the Cowboys won 12 games.

I have no doubt Dak is tight in big games. He looked nervous warming up and in the first huddle. That is a problem for him and the team. And I assume the entire offense picks up on his nerves. It seems when Dak get tight like that he stares down his receivers, his mind slows down and he can't make quick decisions. I posted yesterday that Dak was dumping the ball of to the RB and TE in the flat too late which resulted in completions but no yards. He has to get the ball out there before the defense can react giving the receivers a chance to run for a few yards. Even 5 yards is better than nothing. Dak gets brain lock when he is tight too.

Look at Dak to start the game and until the game was out of hand. He was awful. No yards, two INTs, including a pick 6, and 0 points. The Packers go up 27-0 and all of a sudden Dak finds his rhythm. He found his rhythm because when the game was out of hand the pressure was off, the defense probably relaxed a bit too. This is why I would not fire McCarthy. He is doing the best he can with the QB he was dealt.

Excellent post. I just wonder, if Lamb caught that first third down pass and the Cowboys went on to tie the game, would Dak have calmed down a little bit?

I think it's all academic given the way the defense played but the Dak I watched yesterday was not the same guy I watched all season. I hate to say it but the moment looked too big for him.

Can he do it in the playoffs?

You seriously can’t be trying to mount some sort of defense of Dak at this point…..
You surely can't be surprised that I don't think all of our problems were at QB yesterday, right?

Lol acting like those 2 picks weren't a big deal
Very big deal...since one should have been a flag and the other ended in 6.

Would have been nice if our defense did something to even the score.

Olsen pointed this out several times . GB planned to take away the 1st read KNOWING , DAK can't read defenses for crap and would panic .

Great scouting , as this has held true his entire career
And on the flip side, it appears Quinn did no planning or adjusting during the game. Has he never heard of Aaron Jones?

The game reminded of the Garret era with a dogged “ we believe in our preparation ” mentality despite what’s actually happening in real time showing it’s not working. We don’t have a plan B.

Bs…dak had plenty of games he went through multiple reads. Lamb was targeted so much because he’s our best playmaker period. That’s something that should happen independent of whose the quarterback.you mention Throwing on the fly like it’s an easy skill trait

Also not sold on the "first read" stuff. Can a guy that can't read defenses lead the NFL in TD passes by accident?

Dak sucked yesterday but so did the scheme. Green Bay took Lamb away and all McCarthy tried to do after that was force it to him. Somewhere the Packers coaches are watching this film and laughing their butts off right now.
Most of his good stats came from playing absolutely garbage teams and defenses. Or like yesterday when the game is over and Packers mailed it in.

As of now he’s lacked success there for sure but yesterday was about way more than dak yet you’d think he single handedly cost us the game - which is not true. He was terrible as was the entire team and coaching staff

I think anyone who watches the games realistically knows Dak is a 1 read QB who panics if it's not open. Sometimes he panics less and makes plays, other times he panics and takes huge sacks.
I think it depends on the pressure and game flow and WR separation but I can see some of this

I think he does make plays a lot of the time but there are times when he throws into coverage other times he takes off or takes sack

I don’t know that I’d call him a 1 read QB we have seen him make the multiple reads many times

Unfortunately we also have seen the happy feet multiple times

I think it’s gotten worse over the years

Agree, but he is the most important piece, and I'm afraid his issues are unfixable at this point.

Not really. Dak's only bad statistical games were San Fran and Buffalo on the road. And in both of those games the playcalling went stagnant with no motion and a lot of "scared" scheming.

Yesterday was a different animal. First time Dak was bad against a non-elite defense and it happened in the biggest game of the year.

No, it’s not BS…. And when he does, it’s because he has 50 seconds to throw because a 30th ranked pass defense can’t get any pressure on him..

So now Cook sucks…. Dak’s numbers go up against man. His inability to play against zone is well known. He goes into a conservative shell.
