Speaking at the Combine Sunday, North Alabama CB Janoris Jenkins, who is 23, revealed he has four children under the age of four.

In a very forthcoming presser, Jenkins also confirmed he's been arrested three times and failed a drug test. Jenkins was dismissed from the University of Florida last April following his second marijuana-related arrest, but insists he has been drug-free for over a year. Jenkins' voluminous off-the-field issues surely have him off some teams' draft boards, but he has the talent to be a first-round pick.

Jenkins was dismissed from Florida after being arrested for marijuana possession and signed on with North Alabama. The experience hurt his draft stock, but he repeatedly said it's been a tremendous learning experience and that he's "done" with marijuana.

"I'm done with it forever," Jenkins said. "I can't do it, man."

Jenkins also said the last time he used marijuana was when he was arrested and kicked off the team at Florida. And Jenkins said that he's been arrested three times, twice for marijuana and once for a bar fight. Jenkins said that he failed only one drug test at Florida.

Q: What did you learn from the past year?

A: It made me a stronger person, taught me how to fight through reality. That I’ve got to separate myself from certain guys, certain people. To be successful at the next level I can’t do the things I used to do.

Q: How much do you think your issues have hurt you with certain teams?

A: I’m pretty sure it will hurt me. But I’m looking past that, looking forward to moving on and being successful from here on out.

Q: How conquer marijuana issues, stay away from people?

A: Eliminate myself from some of those guys I used to hang with. I think about my mom all the time and my kids. In order for me
to be successful and them to have a great life or a nice life I’ve got to put it behind me. In order for my kids to get what they want,
I can be a father to my kids and just be there with my mom.

Q: You seem like a man who is grateful for a second chance.

A: I’ve got to be grateful. For what I’ve been through, four years of my career, ups and downs, saying they’re going to
be there with me through thick and thin. I’m very grateful for a second chance.

Q: How long have you stopped smoking marijuana?

A: My last time smoking was right before I got kicked out of Florida, before my last incident happened.


Q: What does it say about your talent level that you’re getting a second chance?

A: They see the talent. They just want to know what kind of kid I am. I came in here to show ‘em I’m not a bad kid,
I made a few mistakes and I learned from ‘em. Everything I did, I did. I’m admitting it. I did it. I’m looking to put that in my past and moving forward.

Giving the right answers and I trust that he's learned from his past mistakes, but that doesn't mean he's not gonna make different mistakes in the pros.

I believe the guy has changed and I hope he plays well, but I'm not sure I'd take a shot on him in the first round.

Ehh who cares as long as he acknowldges the kids and takes care of them. That has absolutely nothing to do with his ability to play football. Let's be honest, if he was a white christian guy no one would care. People are just looking to attack this kids character at this point. There are far worse people with far more important jobs than Jenkins. Give the kid a cjance and let him play the game, its not like we are electing him president or anything.

All joking aside, I really don't see what the big uproar is because the guy has 4 kids. Sure, it's a lot for his age, but I don't see how that relates to him in terms of football or bad judgement as some would say. At least he is trying to be a father to them and is trying to be accountable.
