One notable exception to that was in the 1982 playoffs when Dallas played the divisional round late game on Sunday and had to play an early afternoon game the next Saturday in Washington. The Commanders played the early game on Saturday in the divisional round and had a full week to prepare for Dallas, while the Cowboys had a short week.

I don't know the answer, but in looking back at previous years, I've learned one thing...
This year, the NFC games will be the early game on Saturday and the late game on Sunday, while the AFC games will be the late game on Saturday and the early game on Sunday.
But I don't know which seed gets which game. Hopefully someone else does know that.
Also, does anyone know when the "early" games typically start for that round of the playoffs? If I recall correctly, the "early" game is usually a 3:00 kickoff (as opposed to a noon) and the "late" game is a night kickoff. Can anyone confirm?
At least last year, it was that way (later) on Saturday but not on Sunday... Right? I remember Saturday night games, but Sunday having the more or less regular noon and 3:15 schedule.Danny White;1815005 said:Also, does anyone know when the "early" games typically start for that round of the playoffs? Then I went to Cowboys history site and that was a players strike year, as a result the playoffs were called "The Super Bowl Tournament" and the normal way of seeding was done differently.

If that's true I would guess that we'd be the late game on Sunday. They usually have the westernmost teams playing the later games. It may be more fluid since Dallas isn't all that much further West than Green Bay. But if it were NE and Indy with the byes over in the AFC, I'd bet that the game in Indy would be the later game on Saturday.Danny White;1815005 said:I've been wondering that myself.
