Jarvis Jones no position?

*Georgia pass rusher Jarvis Jones didn’t help himself by running the 40 yard dash in the 4.9 range. But what might hurt him more than his timed speed is the fact that a number of 4-3 teams don’t think he can play defensive end because he doesn’t have the length for the position. If he’s too small to play defensive end in a 4-3 and too slow to play outside linebacker in a 3-4, Jones has a big problem.

Didnt Melsie have him at the top of his board a month ago? Any interest at 47 or 80?

Not dying to get him really after signing Justin Durant.. But if he is there at 47 you really need to consider it. I highly doubt he makes it that far.

Wasn't this the same argument with Suggs? Seems he did okay being slower than a turtle....

I think Suggs was slow and didn't bench very much.

I'm not in favor of the Cowboys drafting Jarvis Jones; however, Seattle runs a Kiffin type defense and has Bruce Irvin at Weak-Side DE. Irving and Jones are basically the same size.

Robert Mathis played DE for the Colts at about the same size as Jones.

Kiffin wants fast guys. Small and slow are a bad combination. All these guys are gambles but they measure and time them for a reason. He has more red flags than China.

At 47 its an absolute no brainer. At some point you have to look at the game tape and realize he was a great player on a very good SEC defense. He can play strong side LB on running downs and rush the passer on passing situations. 40 time isn't everything.

He will go in the first round imo. He has potential and a team will take their chances with him.

As I indicated, I'm not in favor of the Cowboys drafting him; however, he is big enough at WDE, was a great college pass-rusher and had a better 10-yard time than Elvis Dumervil and other NFL pass-rushers.

He will absolutely go in the top 20, I don't care what the word is right now, you'll see. Terrell Suggs had similar times and size. Someone will take him, I could see Rex jumping on him at 9.

The guy was an absolute monster in the SEC last year. There is no way he slides out of the first round.

Bingo! You have to find a way to use this kind of talent. Measurables is not the end-all in judging talent. When a player produces at his level it would be stupid to pass him up in the second. Good pass rushers are hard to find.

Dumervil had "no position" either....too small for DE etc...
but dude was a baller in college. He worked out just fine.

Suggs didn't have Spinal Stenosis. This is the condition that ended Irvin's career.

This guy is one of the best players in the whole draft.

He'll be a top 15 pick. The Steelers would steal him at pick 17 at worst.

Irvin's Spinal Stenosis had progressed to a very dangerous level. Jones' condition is not as severe. It is at a borderline dangerous level which has caused the doctors to have conflicting opinions. He could very easily go through life with no problems.
