Jason Garrett ordered it, Romo delivered it

Jason Garrett put Romo in a position to lose and Romo delivered. The player is responsible for turning the ball over but JG should know we only need a field goal, take some time off the game clock and sustain "momentum". Put the pressure on Sanchez and let our defense feast. Instead JG orders up two successive shotgun spread formations from the 3 yd line on 2nd and goal and 3rd and goal. Really? On the road in NY on 9/11 with that crowd, with Dez gimpy, against those corners, with a 7 point lead, with 6 minutes left your calling shotgun spread? Thanks for ordering up a plate of "choke" and letting Romo deliver it. You can all blame Tony "Choko" if you want but I believe Jason Garrett shares the blame and until he gets this right we will not be able to close out these tight games. Run the ball two more times and kick it if we don't get in, you accomplish several things, run the clock down another minute and make it a two possesion game. The short yardage problems and clock mgmt issues from last year must be solved. I hope Jason G learns from this and never, ever does that again. I believe in Tony Romo, he will take the blame and he will come back stronger. If Jason wants to be a great coach he has to put his players in the best position to close out tight games. Thus far he has not done that.

I agree the playcalling was a huge factor, but no fumble and it doesn't matter. But yeah we should've ran the clock down and possibly even scored there.

Edit: And oh how I wish Witten had a little more speed, LOL.

Red isn't above blame.

That was on him just as much as it was on Tony.

Kill clock, go up by 2 scores, the way your defense is playing that would've been plenty.

Instead, he got cute. I knew we couldn't run the ball all night, but in that situation 3 points and 2 minutes of game clock is huge.

Other than that I thought he called a pretty solid game from an Xs and Os perspective, especially considering they were playing one of the best defenses in the entire league.

Feast? Which defense were you watching? We needed to put another 7 on the board. So now every time we get in td range we should just kick field goals?

I agree, JG gets some blame here. Even though Jets may have scored a touchdown after our field goal, we have to play percentages to win on the raod in this atmsophere. Run 3 times and take some time off the clock and kick a field goal, let the jets drive down the field by giving small yardage covering everything deep and take your chances.

There is a time to be aggressive and time to be play it safe. If JG worked under BP for a year instead of Wade, he would have learned some useful stuff

Well, the only thing I hold against Jason Garrett is that he trusted his franchise QB to protect the ball. Wow, and I thought he was smart. ;)

I thought a large part of the excuse for shotgun passes and other finesse plays in short yardage situations was soft practices that the OC didn't approve of. I thought we were supposed to have a new physicality up front.

What now?

So if Felix got the ball and he fumbled, what would the excuse be? That mean old Garrett, making those football players play football.

I agree to an extent. With all the blabbering about being great today you'd think they could at least snap the ball before a timer runs out.

Fix it, NOW. Tired of seeing the ball snapped at 1 second, too.

3 linemen that had never started an NFL game in their lives and the best defense in the league.

They held their own though.

Good question. No good answer. We just sucked ourselves out of a likely win.

Really? Is this how little we think of our star QB? That we can't trust him with the ball in his hands and a chance to put the game away?

What if Garrett had said into Romo's headset, "Tony, if it's not there just throw it away and take the three points"? Does that change your opinion?

Does our veteran QB really need to be told this?

Romo needs to realize the situation, make a better decision, and then maybe we're not having this discussion.

Then you lose doing the right thing. We lost doing the wrong thing. We needed to conserve a field goal and run the clock down.

Your missing the point.

...or Romo hangs onto the ball, we kick a field goal and win.

I agree.

I thought he did a good job outside of that blunder that started the avalanche.

We should NOT have been passing in that situation. It's great when it works, but when it doesn't, you see why running in that situation is the best thing.

I don't have a problem with the playcalling there, or Garrett in general last night, except if they knew how bad Bryant was hurt, he should have never been on the field. Romo looking his way shouldn't have been even an option.

The play at the goal line is all on Romo. At that moment, ball security has to be the most important thing in the world to him, and it wasn't. Time and again we've seen this from him.

I highly doubt Garrett drew the play up for Romo to run with the football. I could understand your logic if Romo threw an interception. He fumbled trying to ad lib when he should have thrown the ball away and settled for three points.
