He may have been humbled recently in job interviews, media perception, etc., BUT when you look at tape his game plan/calls have not been that bad.

This offense sometimes just fails to find the open receiver (i.e Austin against Denver twice and Witten last night).

He has adjusted (for lack of a better term) and that should be noted.

Though I am sure many of us hate the start of a game where we throw on 5 of 6 plays, but give the man his props. He has developed week by week (especially after getting blasted after carolina and Denver). At the end of year one he made NO adjustments to games/defenses, last year he seemed outmatched at times. This year I think he has had to reevaluate himself and done a good job...though there is much, much more still to do...

Okay...BLAST AWAY I guess...

I've definately yelled some things directed at Jason Garrett during a few games. On that note, he's been doing a great job lately. I think he's starting to come into his own as a coordinator.

It's hard to fault Garrett for primarily passing early in the games because this team's rushing "attack" is awful until late in the football game,,,

Let me guess...that "yelling" starts, and ends with..."RUN THE DAMN FOOTBALL!!!"

Am I right? :laugh2:

Im still not sold on the RB rotation or the fact we rarely seem to run on 1st down. Other than that I think, like the rest of the team, he's gotten better as the season has progressed.

I like JG implementing the smoke routes, quick slants, and WR screens.

It makes the fake quick pass-draw play a lot more believable.. and effective.

Well, by my count, we ran 16 times on 28 first down plays last night - that includes several 1st-down passes on the 2-minute drill at the end of the half, and several runs on the clock-killing drive at the end of the game (it also includes plays that were called back for penalty). I wouldn't call that rare.

I'm pretty sure we run too much on first down. More than 50%, at least.

In my case, it's "The friggin Eagles are blitzing the inside linebackers on every single play. They are just giving you the perimeter. For the love that is all good and holy, RUN THE FRIGGIN TOSS SWEEP TO FELIX !!!"

He did it on one play the entire game (the play that Felix knocked out Asante with the knee to the head) .... then, no more attempts to get the ball to Felix in space on the perimeter, and lots of draws to Barber into the teeth of the inside blitz.

Exactly what I kept telling my buddies. I don't know why we don't run that more often.

I have to give Garrett his props. This is the most solid game he has ever called. There are still some things he needs to add in, like rolling out Romo more, but all in all, I liked what I saw - finally!

The Romo-to-Austin TD that sealed the game was a complete set-up on Garrett's part. He kept running the play inside and finally called it upfield, leaving Austin wide open. The execution was also perfectly timed. Juat beautiful!

And finally, Garrett used the run to close out the game - going against his pass-happy tendencies - and he only therew a pass when he abosiultely needed to. (the last one to Witten). He even did a good job using the run to set up passes throughout the game.

It was a thing of beauty. Gotta give Garrett props. Looks like he's finally learning his lesson. Hopefully he keeps this up!

I still have problems with his love of the draw. They are good, but 2 separate times last night he called 3 draws in a row, that's just too many back to back.

Draws are great runs and we do them well, but seriously too many.

jason's glaring lack of feel for the game is easily ignored when Romo is playing very good AND we're not turning over the ball (shooting ourselves in the foot as is the trademark for wade & co)

just a coach also starts off the game dreadfully on the road. His worst deficiency is (like andy reid) being unable to notice/compensate for a QB when they're having a bad game...

1-10-DAL 22 (14:56) 24-M.Barber right tackle to DAL 24 for 2 yards (26-S.Jones).
2-8-DAL 24 (14:23) 9-T.Romo pass incomplete short right to 19-M.Austin (22-A.Samuel).
3-8-DAL 24 (14:20) (Shotgun) 9-T.Romo pass deep middle to 11-R.Williams to DAL 45 for 21 yards (27-Q.Mikell).
1-10-DAL 45 (13:47) 9-T.Romo sacked at DAL 38 for -7 yards (75-J.Parker). WATCH HIGHLIGHT
2-17-DAL 38 (13:13) 9-T.Romo pass incomplete short right to 80-M.Bennett (56-A.Jordan).
3-17-DAL 38 (13:07) (Shotgun) 9-T.Romo pass short right to 23-T.Choice to DAL 46 for 8 yards (26-S.Jones; 64-A.Dixon).
4-9-DAL 46 (12:29) 1-M.McBriar punts 33 yards to PHI 21, Center-91-L.Ladouceur, out of bounds.

weak series relying on his pass-happy attack (it was great weather in philly yesterday, december/january.... not so much)

andy is just worse

Philadelphia Eagles at 12:21
1-10-PHI 21 (12:21) (Shotgun) 5-D.McNabb pass incomplete deep left to 18-J.Maclin.
2-10-PHI 21 (12:17) (Shotgun) 5-D.McNabb pass incomplete short middle to 10-D.Jackson (41-T.Newman). PENALTY on DAL-41-T.Newman, Delay of Game, 5 yards, enforced at PHI 21.
3-5-PHI 26 (12:13) (Shotgun) 5-D.McNabb pass short middle intended for 18-J.Maclin INTERCEPTED by 43-G.Sensabaugh at PHI 37. 43-G.Sensabaugh to PHI 37 for no gain (18-J.Maclin).

thought he called a real good game. gave the team opportunities to execute to make plays

the eagles were stacking the line daring him to pass deep

happy that garrett/romo took what the defense gave them

still wondering why the eagles made no adjustment to the wildcow

I thought for sure Garrett was going to get FJ 2-3 catches a games this year.

How can it be after 8 games FJ only has 4 catches!!!!

As previously stated, he ran outside the tackles once last night and that would have been for some decent yards if Samuels hadn't made a good play to avoid the TE Phillips? block and get his head in the way. I thought the off-season was spent trying to find better ways to use our assets to replace TO. In particular was getting more ways to take advantage of Felix and Marty B. Get Felix the ball on a few screens and let him do some damage.

I will give him credit. He called a very good game and found ways to get everyone involved. If I recall correctly, barber, Choice, Felix, Williams, Austin, Witten, Crayton, Ogletree, and Bennett all had chances to contribute with the ball in their hands. The playcalling (run/pass selection) seemed pretty even for the most part. A lot of those passes where screens which are just as good as runs in my book. We also now have an explanation as to why Barber sees the bulk of the carries. He likes power bruisers, and Barber delivers that better than Felix and Choice at this point.

All that I can say is that I would LOVE to see a more balanced attack throughout the game....not ONLY runs at the end of the game. It would help with the Time Of Possession which is something that I am always keeping track of....I loved it back in the day when we would just wear a team down and it was obvious in the 4th qtr. when they other team was worn down.

I'm not surprised that he is a pass happy OC....he WAS a former QB after all.

We have three weapons and a big o-line so nobody can tell me we CAN'T run the ball....we did earlier in the year....and quite successively I might add....it just seems that we have purposely gotten away from it even more since then.

If we win it all just passing the ball, more power to him and I'll be thrilled....but should the playoffs come and we get to the point where we have "forgotten" how to run-block....then that is on him as well. He'd better hope that Romo doesn't have an "off" day or a day in the playoffs where the weather is going to affect the pass....because that will be a bad day.

More balanced....but just get the "W"!
