Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has an embarrassment of riches, as he got to oversee the emergence of not one, but two young superstars on his team last season. Now, it is up to him to keep one of them on the straight and narrow path.

Garrett discussed the offseason ordeals of runningback Ezekiel Elliott with Monday Morning Quarterback, and recounted what he has told the team's second-year star. "I've asked him, 'What do you want to be?'", Garrett said. "I’ve had him try to understand the potential paths he could go down, the opportunities he has, on and off the field. They’re off the charts. He’s an infectious, very likable, hard-working kid. My point to him is, ‘If you maximize your abilities, you might be able to make $200 million off the field, like LeBron [James]. Or you could make a million."

"I mean, say you’re AT&T, or you’re Pepsi. You’re looking for a spokesman for your product. What would you do right now? You’d probably say if you’re one of those companies, ‘Oh, we’ll go with Dak [Prescott]. Or we’ll go with Jordan Spieth.’ But that’s in his control."

Weird use of "infectious" as a compliment.

not really infectious get used like that often, "his enthusiasm is infectious, his optimism is infectious."

Sounds more like a question and less like a warning but that is just me.

True but then only Zeke can answer the question of what he wants out of his career. It is there for the taking but Garrett nor can anyone else answer this question for him. He is warning him of what is there for the taking and what can be lost.

I think Garrett is treating him like a man and after all that is what Zeke is.

It is, isn't it? It's a clever way of imparting that "you can't help but like him." Much like getting "infected" with fondness. :)

Interesting that Garrett doesn't talk about whats right and whats wrong. He has to approach it by using money as an incentive.

"You can't pull down that girls sweater NOT because its wrong, you can't pull down that girls sweater because ifs going to cost you money."

Doesn't say much about the world we live in today.

If I have some endorsement money laying around, which obviously I don't, that I want to throw at a Cowboys player, I have be to honest, I would avoid Zeke right now.

I am not saying he's guilty of anything or not, but my endorsement money is valuable and I don't want the perception of wronging doing hanging around the player I choose.

If he keeps his nose clean for a period of time, I think this goes away though.

He seems relates to them by what they seem to understand. I agree does not say much about the world we live in but telling someone not to do something because it is ethically wrong or morally wrong seems to go in one ear and out the other. Money on the other hand is something players relate to.

I'd prefer "motivates" or "inspires" rather than "warns"

Can't help it, that is the attorney in me being really picky about verb usage
