Jason Garrett press conference: Brandon Weeden will be our starter this week. We're going to focus on having a great Wednesday.
we brought in Cassel to have a veteran backup. We felt it would be good for us.
Matt Cassel has been around this kind of system before. He's a smart guy, experienced guy.
we are 100 percent in support of Weeden as our starter. But every day, we're looking to make our team better.
Matt Cassel is in transit. He's not in Valley Ranch.
we anticipate Matt Cassel arriving sometime around 12:30 in Dallas.
Witten is working through a couple different things. He won't be full at practice, but he'll be limited.
you're certainly more trusting of Witten's history beating injury, but we have to be ready with a lot of different alternatives.
Ron Leary will be limited today in practice.
Terrell McClain is a good football player. He has a big toe sprain that requires surgery. It's disappointing; he's disruptive.
we'll have a competition this week among our young DT's to see who fills in for Terrell McClain.
Holding penalties happen, but Zack Martin will learn from them.
we'll continue to persist with a running game. We want to stay balanced no matter who the quarterback is.
self-inflicted wounds have hurt our running game the past two games. Play-by-play, our running game is improving.
Joe Randle did a good job getting dirty yards against the #Eagles.
our defense is still a work in progress.
our secondary has done an excellent job. We challenge our DB's to cover receivers by themselves.

Garrett: He thinks Weeden's control is better and he's more comfortable with the system.

Garrett says RB Joe Randle did much better job vs Eagles in terms of "dirty runs" that won't be on the highlights but keep chains moving.

Garrett confirms that Brandon Weeden is his starter for this week. Wanted Cassel as a veteran backup. Has played games, can learn quickly.
Garrett confirms that Kellen Moore is coming up to the 53-man roster. Adds that it's too early to say if he'll be the backup Sunday.

Garrett doesn't worry about Weeden looking over his shoulder. It's a competition. The best players play. Cassel is here to compete

Garrett: Joseph Randle got a lot of tough yards vs. Philly that "are really important for running efficient offense."
Garrett on Gregory's recovery from the high ankle sprain: "It's still going to be a little bit (of time) for him, but he's making progress"

Randy Gregory (ankle) is making progress but will NOT practice today for #cowboys
#Cowboys
have not ruled out challenging idea of Cassel as No. 2. But KMoore will be called up just in case.

So, it was probably Cassel's exposure to Norv in MIN that got him in here, on top of his veteran status. Makes sense.

Hoping we see more of Coleman with McClain on IR.

lee not hitting that sled is probably as much precautionary as anything. Probably a little sore and they are trying to protect it.

I remember a pulling OG cutting him on a sweeping play to the left. It was early in the game, and it didn't seem to affect him. He did get up and immediately touch his knee though (not sure which one). He didn't limp or come out of the game, so I figured he was ok.
