If you recall, there were a number of big play opportunities that we had wide open for us but we didn't convert the play. Some deep throws to TO that were overthrown/off target, etc. etc. These were the types of plays we were making with some regularity up to that point, then for that game we didn't convert those big plays that we normally did.

Also, that's around the time that Romo's thumb was injured.

It wasn't as if Philly just shut us down completely. We didn't score points... but there were quite a few opportunities that were open and WE didn't make the plays.

Good points. As fans many of us want to always find a scapegoat when often the simple fact is that we don't always play our best and there isn't always someone to blame.

I thought last year after he made it through the first half of the season defense coordinaters figured him out. There wasnt really a book on him until about then. Look at Philly and Washington the second time they played as opposed to the first. With the Giants it took them to the third game to figure him out but to there credit we played them twice in an 8 game span. I think he needs to adjust a bit because teams started blitzing us like it was a base defense the final 5-6 games. We have to remember he is a rookie too and what we have going for us is he is one of the smartest people in football. Im sure he can figure his way out of this funk. Thats just my take. I dont remember this being really discussed at the end of the year. Then again, there were 8 zillion posts, I might of missed it. Opinions

you are right on the money imo. i am not sold on garrett at all. and because of that i am really looking forward to next season and see what he has learned.

I agree. This is not Madden where you plug in a play and it works, players have to go out and execute. Garrett can't do that for them and when I see this team make plays only to be called back because of a dumb foul or plays that were missed then I have to look to the players not the coaches. There were big plays for the taking vs the Giants in the playoffs that we flat out missed then add to it 12 flags that were costly and it adds up to a loss.

What this team really needs to do is learn how to run an effective RB screen play. I remember for years getting killed by that play by both the Eagles (with Westbrook) and the Giants (with Tiki). I used to just sit there and say "Why in the hell don't we run those?" In the Giants (playoff) game it would have been a killer. The D-Lineman were in our backfield before we were. Let them rush past and dump it off to Barber (better yet Jones, because I think his open field ability would have gone for LARGE yardage). I know we tried it a couple of times, but the execution was awful.

One other thing I noticed was that Romo's play action fake is absolutely atrocious. He needs to watch film of Tom Brady. I know many people on here hate the guy, but he has the best play action fake in the league.
