Giant's second-year offensive coordinator hasn’t called the best game according to the fan base. The Giants are taking on the Patriots in their preseason finale.

Garrett is facing criticism for his lack of creativity.

Hey Gary.

“he does what he does”

Ok?

In all seriousness. I hope Saquon is healthy because all Garrett has is to hand the ball to him 25-30 times a game.

Let’s hope Daniel Jones continues his mediocrity under that system . They’ve had a bunch of injuries at WR and from what I’ve heard the fan base isn’t too thrilled with Gettlemen taking Andrew Thomas at tackle last year and the rest of the line is bottom third of the league. That defense will have to compensate .

I liked Garrett as a person and wanted him to succeed, but he was stubborn in his "system" beyond belief, which is why I wanted him gone years before he left.

He is hamstrung by his desire to recreate the 1990's Cowboys offense and that is just not reasonable in today's NFL where every team has big and fast players and many teams have way more creative offenses and defenses.

Garrett is all about execution. Garrett is adverse to creativity, just like many OCs in the NFL.

Creativity in the preseason masks over bad players and technique. A good WR can get open on a slant even when the DB knows it is a slant. A bad WR can get a TD on a creative play and it says little about the WR and volumes about the play call.

Teams are evaluating technique and players. Teams are not evaluating play calls.

It amazes me how he ever became coach.

He has no creativity and lacks football knowledge.

He doesn't do anything during games but claps.

He makes the same rhetorical speeches every game.

Oh, he does cool slogans on t-shirts every year though. Thats unique.

I loved their KaDarius Toney pick. A Percy Harvin-esque YAC threat is exactly the kind of talent that JG wastes with his total lack of creativity.

Toney will stay glued to the sideline and run fly routes and comebacks along it like Miles Austin and Dez did, and that's not his game. It's stereotypical X-receiver stuff from a coach who has only ever thought in terms of player stereotypes. I doubt that Toney ever has a 1000 yard season for the Giants.

2nd TEs, RBBC, screen passes, RPOs... all that stuff just totally eludes Garrett. He either lines up under center and feeds a bellcow RB dives off of left guard, or he lines up in shotgun 11 personnel and throws deep passes with a slant/drag option underneath. That is literally it. If you don't fit into either of those two playcalls, you don't have a home in his offense.

Watch his first two games last year before Saquon went down. He was running hurry up, trick plays and was pretty creative. Problem was he had no offensive line or above average receiver.

If you were going to hire based off “references” he would be #1.

Tight with Saban and Aikman and has some sort of relationship with Belichick.

We all agree his message got stale at the end here. 2019 was the most disappointing season I’ve seen. Marinelli’s defense was so basic that even Sam Darnold knew what was coming. That’s a reflection of the head coach.

Garrett changed his approach to extremes during his time here. In 2007 he had the pedal down even when we were up 20 in the 4th. We lost the packers game vs Matt Flynn in 2013 because he wouldn’t run the ball at all. Then by the end he tried to recreate the 90s and go too far the other direction.

What killed him was never building a defense. From Rob Ryan’s crazy blitzes that left guys wide open to Marinelli’s basic cover 2, it was again a system of extremes. Hoping Quinn has a nice mid ground of being complex without leading to run fit busts and wide open guys in secondary.

Jason Garrett called plays in Dallas for the third highest scoring team in franchise history in 2007 and was the head coach of the second highest scoring offense in team history in 2014.

Garret the parrot flew north to the winter wonderland almost 2 years ago. Let him preen his feathers in peace.
