What was his contract status?
He was on a one year deal, I believe, but the way the Eagles have structured his deals recently, they have cap implications into the future. Not quite sure how it all shakes out if he retires but my guess is he does what Frederick did, announce his retirement soon but then not file his paperwork officially with the league until after June 1 this year to help split cap charges.

It’s rare these days that a player plays for one team his entire career. Good for him. He has a ring, nice family, will be in the HoF. What else could he want besides his health? He’s one of the few Eagles I have total respect for. Glad we don’t have to face him anymore.

He’s literally never said he was retiring previously and returned

"By last season, Kelce had mulled retirement a time or two and used that as leverage to sign a one-year, $14 million contract to make him the highest-paid OL in the league. He went on to make the NFL’s first team and earn another Pro Bowl — and helped lead his team to a Super Bowl appearance but ultimately lost to his brother and the Kansas City Chiefs."

On March 11, 2022, after mulling retirement before the 2022 offseason, Kelce signed a new one-year deal with the Eagles worth $14 million, which made him the highest paid center in the NFL.[48] Kelce earned Pro Bowl and first team All-Pro honors for the 2022 season.[49][50]

Kelce and the Eagles appeared in Super Bowl LVII against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jason's brother, Travis, played for the Chiefs, making it the first Super Bowl to feature two brothers on opposing teams as players.[51] Jason and the Eagles lost to Travis and the Chiefs 38–35.[52]

After considering retirement, Kelce re-signed with the Eagles on a one-year contract on March 15, 2023.[53] In week 6, Kelce broke the Eagles record for most consecutive starts that was previously held by Jon Runyan.

Yes. Mulling retirement and saying you are retiring aren’t the same thing. He said he’s done this year. He’s never said he was done before.

Best center in the league in my opinion. A huge loss for the Eagles if it’s true.

They'll be better than us at center next year unless we sign or draft a stud.

They have two guys on the roster that are probably better than Biadasz. They'll likely be just fine at center next year (obviously not as great if they had Kelce still).

Won't matter. You can have Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, Tyler and Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, Landon Dickerson, and Jordan Mailata for the line and they still won't get to the SB if Hurts plays next year like he did this year.
