Haven't heard a word about this guy, good or bad. Anyone seen him on the field?

Typical Jerry reach. He's like the Quincy Carter of linebackers.

He's a rookie.

I knew he wasn't going to challenge Carp for that Nickel job.

I think he knew it too.

Maybe you haven't visited the board enough or read enough threads.

I've read quite about a bit about him. Good and bad.

He's a 3rd rd pick from a small school, he wasnt going to light it up from day one.

That said I believe he's been running the other 2nd team ILB spot and there is talk he will see the field on defense some this yr.

Admitting that I don't have time to read EVERY post (but I still spend too much time here) I've read a little bit about Brandon Williams but haven't seen a lot of news regarding Jason.

He was tagged as a special teams ace and role player by most of the draftniks on this board. At least for his first year or two, so it doesn't make sense to dump on him one week into camp.

Maybe someone who has been to TC can give us a recap of his performance so far?

We'll get a chance to see next Thursday (or Friday's replay on NFL Network).

That's to be expected. B.Will has stood out more than Jason.

Wade's mentioned Jason in his recap. There's a blog entry from DMN about him as well as other tidbits in the Live from Alamadome posts. I think Mosley's mentioned him, as well.

The most consistent thing that's been said about him is that you can see his athleticism. However, he's playing slow and reacting to things late, His head is swimming with all the stuff he's learning.

Yes. From DMN's chat today...

9:43 [Comment From Tim]
My friend played football with Jason Williams in College. He said he struggles during coverage and shedding blocks. He did say that if he is left untouched he will make a play against the run, or get a sack. He also said he will be a beast on special teams. Just wondering if you have seen him improve on the 2 knocks he recieved from a college buddy?

9:45 Tim MacMahon: Your friend offered a pretty good scouting report. Williams is also struggling with the mental adjustment of playing off the ball after basically lining up right over the center or guard and blitzing most plays at Western Illinois. He has the potential to be an impact player, but he's a project for LB coach Reggie Herring.

Thanks for the info:cool:

If he struggles in coverage, it looks like he will at least be able to provide some pressure up the middle.

Or Skip Bayless.

On the nosey... I suspect he makes a habit of sucking on lemons before he logs on to the zone, so that he'll have just the right sneer on his face...
