Jason Witten had a heck of a game

Per another recent thread where I commented that I am guilty of focusing on the negative more than the positive, I wanted to throw this out there:

Jason Witten had a heck of a game yesterday and really I haven't seen anybody talk about that. If Witten doesn't have a game like that the Cowboys lose.

On a related note -- Witten went over 100 yards receiving. In general, do you realize how rare that is for a TE to do? Witten does it routinely and because he does it so routinely Cowboys fans take it for granted.

Dude is just a great football player.

On a day where Dez and Williams weren't exceptionally strong, another player stepped up. Definitely didn't look a step slower yesterday.

Good point. He was great yesterday.

Exactly! Witten is so good, so consistently -- that when he has 100 yard games like this, which for 90% of the other TEs in the league maybe happens 2-3 times in their entire career, is it mundane and barely comment worthy.

He's just flat out a great NFL player. Great on & off the field.

He played real well, but he has definitely lost a step, if not two.

His wheels are coming off, and it's obvious. But somehow he still gets open.

The Minnesota secondary is not that bad they held "All Hail Megatron" to very pedestrian numbers in their meeting earlier this year.

He has the kind of game where I think he can continue at this level for a good while longer. His game doesn't rely on speed but rather always been where he needs to be. Especially when plays break down. Obviously his game yesterday goes without saying how good it was.

9 times out of 10, if Witten has a poor statistical game it has nothing to to do with him directly. I am honored to have watched him his entire NFL career so far in Dallas.

Yes. Mr. Consistent. When we win we tend to overlook his contributions. He was running with a head of steam yestiday.

Good job, JW!!

Perry...great reminder of something we too readily take for granted. Witten is one heck of a passionate warrior. What a player that we are entitled to have as our own.

Tell that to the guys trying to stop him. And remember Witten faces as much double-teaming as anyone.

That said...I don't disagree that he's lost a step.

Absolutely my favorite current Cowboys player. The guy doesn't get the respect he deserves on these forums on a pretty regular basis by a portion of the fan base that just doesn't seem to know how great he is because he's not Jimmy Graham or Gronk.

Great player, thats why it is so dissapointing that we haven't done better as a team in his tenure.
