Do you realize that Jason Witten is, at this time in the season...

Type 5 in the league in Receptions for a TE?
Top 4 in the league in yardage for a TE?
Top 7 in yards per game in the League for a TE?
Top 6 in TDs in the league for a TE?

So...although we feel he has not gotten enough looks his way, he is not exactly in the bottom half of the league...he is in the top ten of the league in most categories and top 5 in a few.

Point is, we know he needs to get the ball more often, but it is not like he is a forgotten man compared to other TEs in the league.

Just something to think about.

Drew just needs to continue to find the open man and get the ball to him, if that is Witten then great but right now we are not seeing Bledsoe forcing the ball and I would hope that continues

Does anyone know how Drew Bledsoe feels about TE's? Does he like looking at the TE? Does he trust TE's?

Ever hear of Ben Coats? Yes Bledsoe has never had a problem going to the TE. Having said that if your on the other side of the line would you do everything you could to slow down Witten? I would and that is a reason why we are seeing others guys like Crayton so much more involved

He needs to be scoring TDs in the REDZONE. In that sense, he is a forgotten man. Drew needs to make that note in his head. Look for the Big Guy in the REDZONE.

Crayton has already eclipsed his 2004 season of 8 games in just 4 games in 2005. But I don't think most fans care about stats, they care about wins.

I agree...but maybe the stat I gave, made it look worse then it is.

The top number of TDs by a TE this season has only been 3, there are a number of TEs with 2 and 1.

Witten has 1.

So he is not exactly far behind the league leaders in TDs for TEs.

Once again I know we need to get the ball to him more often, I also know that he has been double and triple covered at times....but we must consider that he is still in the top 5-10 in the league in the stats that count for TEs so he is not off the mark by much compared to the other TEs in the league so far this season.

I wouldn't say he's the forgotten man or that he's overlooked, but I think his production is inconsistent, which can be frustrating for fans to watch. (Witten's a star, ya know) One game he's getting shutout, next min he displays the all pro TE that he is in the first half. I think that's why people get mad.

But there's also a failure to realize that defenses are out to stop him. So he's gonna have days when he's not going to shine.

With that said, DC.com notes that he is slightly ahead of last year's numbers.

Witten is actually slightly ahead of his pace for last year, catching 16 passes for 181 yards and one touchdown in the first four games. At this time last season, Witten had 17 catches for 156 yards and one touchdown.

He finished the season with 87 catches for 980 yards and six touchdowns to earn his first Pro Bowl selection at age 22.

Absolutely. But, we also need to realize that he could be a difference maker in close games, which all have been to this point. He could/should have 3 or more TDs by this point. Especially in the REDZONE.

Look at the last part of WG's post above.

He is ahead of last years pace....which I find amazing considering teams have actually game planned, double teamed and on a few plays this season I have seen triple coverage on him.

I think people tend to forget some things.

Remember Bill saying in preseason about is he going to still be a star or just good, because teams will now be focusing on him more then they did before (or something along those lines).

We are going to see games where he gets a large number of passes his way, we will see games where Keys gets a large number of passes his way and then we will see games where Glenn gets the large number of passes his way.

Sometimes a QB is going to miss a player when going through their progressions for a number of reasons....sometimes there will be games where we hardly see anything from one of those guys (take glenn in this last game, before that long pass he was invisible in the passing game).

It happens, it is early and the run game has not been as good as expected.

I however think people are lack of balls headed in wittens direction just because of this last play where they said bledsoe should have thrown to witten instead of glenn.

Witten is in the top ten in most TE categories and is AHEAD of his pace starting out last season.

People need to give things a little time and let things take it's course...they also must realize that when Keys, Glenn, Crayton and Witten are healthy...Witten may not be required to be the focal point in the passing game every week.

Last season Glenn went down and Crayton was a rook who saw limited time, Morgan did not do much and Keys could only do so much...Witten got the bulk of those balls headed in his direction.

With a healthy WR corp, for now, with crayton picking up his game....Witten may indeed not be a primary target as much as he was last year.
