Jason Witten has never been in the position the Dallas Cowboys are in right now.

No one in franchise history has been, to be succinct.

On Sunday, the team defeated the Baltimore Ravens 27-17 in what was a hard-fought contest throughout, landing a team record ninth-straight win and further solidifying the Cowboys dominance over the NFL in 2016.

Witten is loving it, admittedly, but he's not ready to start celebrating just yet as they have only a short time to get ready for a key battle on Thanksgiving against the Washington Commanders.

"[The Ravens are] the No. 1 defense in the league for a reason," said the 14-year veteran following the win, via DallasCowboys.com. "We knew it was going to be kind of an old-school smashmouth football game. I'm proud of our team just hanging in there -- weathering the storm, grinding it out and then we were able to hit some big plays to swing the momentum. As an offense you just gotta stick with it and stay together. That's what our team did today."

And on landing a franchise best ninth straight win?

"It's great," Witten said with a smile. "But they don't hang banners after 10 weeks."

The Cowboys are now two games into a brutal three game stretch to begin the second half of the season, having now downed the Steelers and the Ravens.

They'll now host the Commanders on a short week, a surging divisional rival who would love nothing more than to hand the Cowboys another loss. And on their own field, no less, as a means of revenge for the Week 2 affair.

He's right but that seems to be the consensus of a lot of posters here. 9 straight wins is great but we've done pretty much nothing so far. We haven't even secured a Playoff spot yet.

That's right they don't. And I'd love to see them hanging a Superbowl Champion banner at end of this season. That would be fantastic.

Huh, I thought the tough 3 game stretch started Thursday.

And Jason has been 9-1 before. 12-1 in fact. It's not any more impressive this year than in 2007 just because the Patriots weren't in the middle.

After 14 years in the league and a crushing defeat at the hands of the Giants in 2007 playing for a Cowboys team favored to make the Super Bowls that year, Witten understands the need to pump the brakes. And he doesn't have a lot of time to get all caught up in regular season milestones.

I'm sure he's warning his teammates about getting overconfident. When you're playing this well, you need to stay focused and commit to the grind and getting better.

He's probably thinking, "We've come too far but still have a long way to go. We can't miss this up."

If the Cowboys get the No. 1 seed, the odds of them getting to the NFC Championship Game are greater than them doing so at a lower seed. And if they get to the NFC Championship Game as a home team, the odds are greater that they get to the Super Bowl than they would be if we had to go on the road.

Witten, better than anyone, knows how important it is to not get caught up in the moment.

So what you're saying is a quick run down to Cabo is just completely out of question I suppose ! :D

Love to see Witten keeping a level head and staying grounded. Not that I'd expect any less from him, but nice to see nonetheless. For as much as the youthful every and enthusiasm has seemed to galvanize him, I'm every bit as sure, his professional demeanor and focus does the same for the young guys.

Yeah but since Saint Jason is saying it it's all good.

You on the other hand? Don't start trolling, bro.

I'm glad Witten is smart enough to know no one has ever won a SB in November. While fans can be excited and talk about championship this team has accomplished nothing as of yet except for a very good reg season record.

1 game at a time is the key, and they do that.
The game 1 loss is actually a good thing, in that otherwise they would be undefeated, and that would add more pressure, and teams
would want to beat them even more.
The games have for most of them been tough , and they know they could have lost many of those, so hopefully they wont
get to where they think they just have to show up and they will automatically win.]
Each one has to be earned.
