Javon Walker Video

If Jevon Walker is healthy, he would be perfect fit on this team. I'm not worried about any attitude problem he might have because: 1) he and TO are good friends, 2) our WR coach (Pete Sherman was WR coach in GB when Walker was there) and they got along very well, 3) we have an excellent passing attack with a great young developing QB whose easy to get along with, 4) we are SB contending team, 5) we are a premier team which plays max time in prime time, and 6) if he plays for us for incentive based contract everyone will know/see how good he is, etc.

That says it all and it's Ray Sherman not Pete.

Great fit, all we needed down the stretch was a veteran with sure hands. All year I heard Crayton has the "best hands on the club" over and over from Troy and several posters here, but he dropped several balls that costed us our season. Walker won't make those mistakes, for a 5th this guy is a steal and he should be humbled from what has happened in Denver.

If TO could learn then so can Walker. Maybe since they friends, some of TO's new attitude can rub off on Walker. Besides, I'm hoping we also draft Kelly (know he wouldn't be there) but then either Hardy or Thomas in the first round and with Walker as our starting #2 that will give one of these guys that time to learn the system, blocking, routes, etc and not require the guy to produce immediately.

Nice video!!! Dude is fast, cuts well, great hands, and runs well with the ball in his hands. Those reverses were impressive. If his knee is straight, I'd luv to have him. He reminds me of TG with his cuts and running style. His attitude scares me a lil tho...

Yeah.. I gotta admit I like the way he goes up and fights for the ball. We havent had a player like that since... Irvin?

We know what he can do. Talent is not the question. What should give everyone pause is the fact that Shanahan implied that Walker may need microfracture surgery in the near future.

That's right...the same surgery Glenn may be facing...and despite it's recent successes, minimizing it's tag as a "career ender," in all likelihood, Walker could be out a year before he can play again...if he can play again.

It's for a 5th round pick, People. Where's the downside?

Did giving up a 6th round pick for Terry Glenn hurt us? Ummm, no.

And Walker is younger than TG was when we got him.

Or I guess we could hold on to that 5th rounder. Wouldn't want to pass up the opportunity to draft another Pat Watkins, Sean Ryan, Pete Hunter, Matt Lehr, Michael Wiley, Darrin Hambrick, or Oliver Ross (our last 7 fifth round picks).

That's only part of the issue.

Walker is right in the middle of his contract with Denver, a 5 year deal worth 40 mil. If we trade a 5th for him, and I think that would be fair, we still have to deal with his contract or have it restructured.

But is that likely? Would he agree to a restructuring of his contract? Personally, I doubt it. The guy has made it perfectly clear during his career how important money is to him.

I think what will happen is Denver will release him, and he'll have to negotiate a new contract with whatever team is interested. And in that scenario, how much is too much for the Cowboys knowing that he may or may not play next season? Will he need microfracture surgery? If so, will he recover enough to play at the same level? We don't know, so any lengthy contract is a major risk, but that's what he'll be looking for.

I just don't see him coming here.
