After looking at the film, my biggest concern is for Chicago Bears quarterback Rex Grossman. It seems like he has lost the gunslinger mentality that he has had over the past few seasons. Say what you will about his inconsistency -- and yes, it has been maddening -- but Grossman has been able to generate big plays downfield because he trusts his arm and instincts. While that has misfired on him in the past, at least it has resulted in some big plays and gave the Bears' offense a semblance of danger.
So far this season we haven't seen that as Grossman has become a checkdown quarterback. He's simply trying to put the ball in someone's hands and more often than not that person has been wearing an opposing team's uniform.
He has to find a way to maintain that gunslinger mentality while also protecting the ball. If he doesn't, he watch the game from the bench.
