Jaws' Corner

by Ron Jaworski

The Cowboys have a tremendous attack this season and balance is one reason why. When I broke this team down in the film room, I was amazed at how potent they are at every dimension of the offense.

The passing game attacks from sideline to sideline, vertically and with screens. On top of that, opposing defenses can't pick out who is going to get the ball because Tony Romo's pass distribution has been so even this season.

When I look at Romo, I see a quarterback very similar to Brett Favre. They are both willing to throw the ball at any point -- from any arm angle -- at any time and are gunslingers in the truest sense of the word.

Both have good mobility and can move out of the pocket very well, but both are always focused downfield and hitting a receiver. Neither looks pretty all the time, but they both have great results and get the job done.

Wow! All this love coming from ESPN is something.

Did Armageddon start and no one told me?

I have been saying for a while ESPN does not hate Dallas, you want respect you earn it. Dallas is getting more good things being said about them because we are playing like a quality team instead of a 500 team.

I agree you have to earn it and last year we proved to be a flop down the stretch but even our individual players rarely got any props from espn.

But yes, you do have to earn it and now they are earning it. Just a bit odd to see it all at one time.

Yeah, but Jaws is a clueless Philly homer. I wouldn't believe a word he says.

I just think the so called ESPN hate is overblown. I don't think by and large we are hated by the networks or ESPN. In the 90's media talked highly of the Cowboys because we earned it and that is what is starting to happen now. As long as we are playing like a top team we will get the positive attention

:laugh1: I do think Jaws is a Philly guy but I think he calls it the way he sees it the Good and bad and I can accept that. I don't need the Cowboy love feast I would rather hear someone honest opinion and sometimes I will agree and other times I don't.

I agree, but everyone is from somewhere. Troy and Moose are Dallas guys, and they are good, objective football comentator, just like Jaws. Rod Woodson, Michael Irvin and Teezman, on the other hand, are homers who let their allegiences taint their work.

Actually Favre I saw in person play a few years back. What struck me was how big he was, he just looks bigger in person than on TV. He has a stronger arm than Romo but is not as good a scrambler, mobile as Romo.

I think Romo is soon to carve out his own nitch and 20 years from now they will be comparing young QB'S to Tony Romo!

Jaws is a Philly homer and makes no bones about that & I have no problem with that at all.

But when he breaks down QB play, he is absolutely the best and doesn't let any prejudice affect his judgment. Expect to hear a lot of love coming Cowboys way on Monday night IF Cowboys playing really well. If Romo makes the kind of big play only he can, expect to hear the love flowing like the mighty Mississippi.

Romo, as I have said previously, looks small compared to other QB's...he just does not look like the prototypical QB, but he gets the job done!

He looks smaller than Palmer and the Mannings, but not Brees or Bulger. He doesn't look "small" to me, just not as huge as some of the other guys.

It's funny...

Watching Brady and Palmer the other night, I kept expecting them to roll out of the pocket as the rush closed in. I guess I'm used to watching Romo do his thing.

Would you qualify Staubach and Montana as "prototypical?" Tony is 6'2", 224. That's not a little dood.

Maybe I'm not looking at him as a REAL football player?

He just reminds me of some young kid (which he is of course)...because his deamenor, his personality, does not come across as this big, bad QB!

:laugh1: He just does not look like a QB! But, he can put the hurt on you in a New York second!

So are you suggesting that Jaw's assessment after reviewing this year's film on Romo and Cowboys are all hype? Has absolutely no validity?

I don't consider Jaworski a homer. He's one of the best as far as I'm concerned. I love watching him break down film.
