Talked about HC openings. Francesa and Glazer talked about how Shanny is a perfect fit for us (a top 3 playcaller in the NFL) also if Garrett goes Franseca think's we would make Wade the DC by giving him a raise and he's the type of guy would accept that.

This would be a great offseason if we get Shanny and Wade becomes the DC.

Heck Glazer said even if Garrett doesn't get a job we could still can him and bring in Shanny.

I like Shannahan, but to say he's a "perfect fit" is stretching it. Romo has absolutely no familiarity with the West Coast Offense. Shannahan likes smaller more athletic offensive lineman to run his zone blocking system. We have big, fat guys on the OL who just like the maul the person in front of them. IMO, it would take Romo two years to adjust to the offensive philosophy, and I'm not sure we could ever rehaul the OL to fit Shannahan's system because all of our OL are locked up in huge, longterm contracts.

I'd be interested to see what happens with the O-Line, he would have to scrap his zone blocking scheme because all our lineman are locked into contract.

He's had linemen who didn't typically "fit the mold" before and it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Look at George Foster, whom he actually drafted in the first round. 6'5" 338 LBS. He started for them in 2004-2006. Montrae Holland started for them in 2007 and he was a big lineman.

Ryan Clady is 6'6" 325 pounds.

I don't think it would be so much a hindrance to his scheme that he couldn't still run the ball very effectively (which is what the main concern would be). Nothing ever has been ever since he became a head coach. In fact, the only time since 1992 that he has had a unit that wasn't elite in running the football was in 1994 with the 49ers...and we all know what that unit still accomplished.

There's no way he fails with this kind of talent. Absolutely no way. It should be any offensive coordinator's dream.

And this stuff about Romo "having no familiarity with Shanahan's system" is meaningless. It didn't stop John Elway in 1995.

If Romo is as smart and as hard working as everyone says, he should have NO TROUBLE AT ALL.

Jerry won't do that and I believe that Garrett is the only thing stopping us from getting Shannahan.

Nobody is 100% of anything as far as blocking schemes go.

We wouldn't be able to just flat out switch to Shannahans blocking scheme because our guards and tackles are not guys who can cut off linebackers very well.

Shanahan is good enough though to make it work with the players we have.

We have a good group of talent on the OL and a coach like him with the passing game we have plus MB3, Felix, and Tashard should have 0 problem running the ball.

Clady is a freak of nature athlete with amazing feet. To compare Clady to Flozell or Colombo because they're listed with similar height and weight is like saying Don Knotts and Joey Galloway are similar athletes because they're both 6'0 185. And George Foster was a good athlete too, but he pretty much sucked in the zone blocking scheme and they had to ship him off a man blocking team.

It's not the size that matters it is the athleticism.

Whether our OL are athletic enough to zone block i don't know, but the fact that they are large isn't a factor.

He did say basically the jones guys will swallow the contract, talking as if it's not even an issue. imho the biggest issue is EGO and jerry - like a gambler who lost his shirt - admitting it's time to go home and accept what is lost.
