This is so stupid. We are such an over litigious society. Everything offends everybody.

Jay Leno thought he was poking gentle fun at the lifestyles of rich and famous Republican presidential candidates — Mitt Romney in particular. But last Thursday when Leno’s slide show came to a location cited as Mitt Romney’s summer home — in reality an image of the Sikh holy shrine Golden Temple in Amritsar, India — it sparked a diplomatic incident. And now, a lawsuit charging Leno and NBC with libel.

EDIT: This is not meant to be a political post in anyway. Just sayin'.

Awesome, now someone sue Dr. Randeep Dhillon of Bakersfield for being a dillhole.

Awesome. I just might have to start watching Leno.

If you know much about the Sikhs, it would be obvious this wasn't going to sit well.

Though I'm sure Leno had nothing to do with it, and his PAs or writers just went looking for something palatial looking.

some are so touchy. If your religion is so weak that jokes injure it, maybe you need to find a new one.

copy this to muslims as well

I have a good friend who is a Sikh, I'm going to ask him about it and see what he thinks.

He's such an easy going guy though that I can see him just shrugging it off and saying, "whatever".

And I agree, I think they probably just typed in "golden palace" or something to that effect and it was probably one of the first images to pop up.

I doubt any person in that building could have placed a name on the picture if they weren't of that religion or at the very least from that region.

For real. Heck, I thought it WAS Romney's summer home. LOL!

Leno probably paid the guy to sue him so that he could get some more publicity given his show is but a mere shadow of what it once was.

Just remember though, don't mess with Sikhs. The Gandhis all paid with their lives over in India for attacking Bindranwale (sp) when he was holed up in the Golden Temple.

A lot of religious groups though go out of their way to fight any perceived slight on them, jews, muslims, sikhs.

Remember: there's a difference between filing a law suit and a winning a law suit, or even making it to trial.

ppl who file suits over this sort of thing deserve to be made fun of

Really?

I have no idea what this religion even is that they're talking about with this deal so I would have had zero idea what the picture was from or how it would be an issue.

Either way for someone to sue over a joke is pathetic. And this guy wants to be President? What's his people going to do then? Spend countless hours a day filing law suits on every single person out there who makes a joke about him if he becomes President?

My gosh. If only Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama had thought to sue over all those super meanies out there telling all those super meanie head jokes!!!

Romney didn't file the law suit. Some Sikh Religious leader did. THEY got offended.

Kind of reminds me of the Falwell vs Flynt lawsuit some years ago.

Some people either don't get humor/satire or they just want to sue.

Yes...and the courts made the right decision in that case and I doubt the current one even gets to court.

Didn't Flynt win that lawsuit?

No need to go into the specifics of the lawsuit/case. Remember this is a family friendly fourm.
