Jaydon Blue is the fastest offensive player we drafted this century

People falling in love with speed for speed sake always amuses me. If the speed was paired with actual talent the guy would have lit the world on fire in college. Unless they played at a small school with no line, no QB and no other threats on offense. Playing at Texas with draftable linemen blocking for you, with a drafted QB throwing to first round draft pick receivers and your entire college career would fit inside one season of Barry Sanders or Emmitt Smith's college career. I hope the kid is the next Barry Sanders.... but I aint holdin my breath. He's more likely another version of the kid Lance Something? who could really run but could never stay healthy.

Emmitt is listed as 221 LBS in a 5'9 frame, somewhat more compact than Blue.

I don't really understand the comparison. Blue is 200 LBS in a 6" frame.

I think Blue would be perfect filling the role of RB2 like Pollard did when Zeke still had gas.

The Cowboys don't need another Zeke. They just need a consistent pounder. I suppose there is a possibility that Mafah, our other drafted rookie RB, could be that guy but will he be at 100% when training camp starts?
I agree with you that he MIGHT be too small for a full time 3 down back role but I'm holding out hope that he is more of a Darren Sproles type that can play every down but faster. There is no mistaking this kid is FAAAST!

Jamaal charles, emmitt , ,Barry ,and Chris Johnson were all small

Given these numbers why was he such a late round pick? It is just about his size?
Ball protection and pass blocking matter. I'm sure in a different year he probably goes higher and fell victim to the RB depth this draft, but I'm sure teams have valid concerns about just how much they can get him on the field despite some elite attributes.

The tape. TBD. Let's see what happens
lots of RBs look great in college and do diddly squat in the pros
some flash and then disappear.
Tell me, after Julius Jones rookie season did you not think we had a star in the making?

I agree he needs to work on ball protection HARD.
But pass protection? if you got this guy blocking 260 pound blitzing LBs then you are a lousy OC

If hes going to be in there on receiving downs pass protection is a must. It's not always up the the OC, if the defense is bringing extra guys you cant have defenders running free.

Jaydon Blue suffered a high ankle sprain early last season. It's what cost him much playing time throughout the season. Even then, he ran for 730 yards for a 5.4 yards/carry average, 8 rushing TDs, 368 yards receiving with a 8.8 yards/reception, plus 6 receiving TDs for a grand total of 1,100 total yards, a 6.2 yards/scrimmage average and 14 TDs. Pretty darn good for someone playing injured a majority of the 2024 season. Had Blue been healthy the whole season, he would have easily rushed for 1k+ yards rushing, etc.

I was never a fan of him. He was ok.

Imo the cowboys should start mafah and blue for the entire season baring any injury. Leave williams as depth at 3rd incase injury. Live and die by it. Clean slate at the Running Back position.

I mean if the cowboys were going to struggle at the position anyway you might as well start the young pups at 1 and 2.

Id rather that than anything with Williams and sanders starting
I think Javonte WIlliams will have a nice bounce back year. I think FO did right here.
