Sean Lee is already playing where he is better off staying to complete his career. I agree with those saying that the team will elect to use caution about when they put Jaylon at MLB. I can't help but doubt it will happen this year, though. When he does return, he'll be fully healed and ready to deliver and take on the contact with the best of them. Until then, he'll be used sparingly, although he'll perform impressively in the process.

My question is; is it better to have both Smith and Lee on the field at the same time regardless of positions played.
Or force Smith into the will position Lee into the Mike position and watch how long it takes for Lee to get injured.
It didn't take long the last time they put Lee on the Mike.

THIS ^^

They can play Lee and Smith like they did Lee and Ro Mac...Ro Mac was the Mike...however...

Each game depending on the offensive scheme and alignment, they swapped duties of who covered who, and what their assignments were. And it worked well.
I can't recall the 2 games, back to back, where they did this. But in each weak, each one had an INT for a TD I believe.
One week, though from the outside position, it was Lee staying in, to spy the QB or cover the TE or RB, the following week, it was better for Ro to do that role.

I can see something similar with Lee and Smith. And with a true FS in jones, that allows him to do his job better, as Jones allows the LB's to do their jobs better.

I'm confused. First, he can't lift his foot; but I see him lifting his foot. Then, he's limping yet he's running full speed. He's not suppose to be ready for the season opener, yet he looks like he's ready to start with the first team. I don't know what to believe.
I'm tired of analyzing him. I'm just going to sit back and ride this one out.

tyke brother I think there has been so much negative speculation and opinion by people who aren't exactly in the "know" so to speak that it's been confusing. What I see is exactly what the team and Jaylon have been saying. He's progressing and he works his arse off and you're seeing it on the field.

I'd say stop listening to people who aren't in the "know". I know you approach things with caution and frankly don't blame you one bit. But it does seem this time we should listen to the team and Jaylon. For once it seems they didn't lead us down a rabbit hole... yet

2017 Dallas "D" will be much improved even over last year....if we can get out of training camp without too many injuries and make it through the first few games without losing too many and get our suspensions back...we will be a force to be reckoned with....lets just make it to the playoffs this year and win a couple post season and build for SB
but then again that is what they said back in 1992...that cowboys were still one year away but they won it all in 1992?

Why change all 3 positions.....

Lee has been awesome with the switch to WILL
DWilson picked up his game at SAM and Wilber can fill in

but JSmith was built for the MIKE here..............it is still a pursue role with a lot space to cover in the passing game..... it is not as physical as some ILBs

best 3 LB's on the field...but I agree with many that Lee stays outside....looking forward to seeing what happens...example, when we go to 2 LB sets to get an extra DB in the game, we have Lee and Smith....not so bad

I was completely caught off guard by Jaylon Smith burst today. Vastly different from his previous practice in pads. Dallas should have internal discussions about Jaylon at Will and Lee back to MLB. I need Jaylon flying around and not getting caught up in trash in middle. Very positive day for Jaylon.
Start with:
Nickel
Lee
Jaylon

Base
Lee
Hirchens

Preseason game 1 before we know anything significant, IMO.

If by listening to the team...you mean listening to Coach Garrett and Marinelli...then yes. Or you mean listening to the club's official internal media...Spagnola or Broaddus....then yes.

If you mean listening to Jerry...uh no.

Garrett, Marinelli, Spags and Broaddus have all emphasized caution, though with increasing optimism.

No can do. The idea is to preserve Lee's career at this point. He was taking too much punishment at MLB. Notice how he's not "injury prone" anymore on the outside. That's where he's staying.

Lee will not be MLB. He's to fragile, if anything Hitchens will start in the middle, Lee at Will and Jaylon at Sam.
I think Jaylon will get his feet wet as a pass rusher.

reasonable
how often do we play base D and how often in nickel?

question is how good is the burst.
i saw the video also, but somehow it seems he looked faster in college highlights...
no objective measure though.
