These shows the number of plays per game and % of defensive snaps.
Well his usage in the 1st 4 games was really high with hitchens out and game 9-12 for lee injury.
so note his # of plays in games 5-8 and 13-16 (underlined) where jaylon was not forced to play too many plays due to injuries to hitchens or lee.
seems to me, the coaches knew they could get 20-30 good plays per game out of jaylon last year.
it is guard to guess much more than that.

It is pretty clear. He played better when his playing time was cut significantly, and inversely, played worse the longer he was out there. I have heard teams like the Rams specifically targeted him. He did play better at the end of the year, when he was playing only 1/4-1/3 of the snaps. Take that however you want. I already know the usual suspects will come to his rescue.

I agree that seemed to be true; however, some of it was improvement with more experience and with more time to get better physically.

It is difficult to know how much each of the 3 categories contributed to his improvement.

If I were other NFL teams I'd target smith every time he's on the field and the rest I'd run at Lee until he breaks.

as an opponent i would definitely run at lee until lee breaks, including shifting the te there
not sure where jaylon stands.
some plays he definitely stood strong.

Correlation does not imply causation. It's clear because you want it that way. There are other possible causes such as him getting better with experience and improving health/confidence in the knee. What is clear is that you do not want that outcome.

Early he was misreading run fits, struggling in his drops given route combos, and tentative pushing off his left foot. After awhile he was filling more consistently, driving on throws, and pushing off his left leg without apparent issue.

You have any proof other than correlation?

there is no proof of anything nor is there an agenda.
the most important thing to correlate it with is what the team was saying how jaylon snaps should be limited last preseason.

i posted something on the info because i was hoping others had to add to it, like his defense rating in each game.
of course, no good deed goes unpunished.

why u have write thing in such an offensive fashion.
i guess u took some jaylon position that you will defend by whatever means possible, even when others have no agenda against you.
now i see why some find you so annoying.

What are you talking about?

Did I or did I not talk specifically about Jaylons play as the season progressed?

Bob called people out setting up sides. I responded in that vein. If you want to take issue then perhaps you should go talk to him.

well you are busy pointing out correlation does not imply causation, but then you can read my mind - "It's clear because you want it that way"
where do you get off telling people their real motivations, which seems to be something you enjoy doing.

the only way i want is for jaylon to be a probowler.
i am not stayed in touch with the jaylon argments much because they got too annoying to follow most of the time.
i dont even know who bob is and could well be someone i ignored.

I am interested in understanding why people do the things they do. His bias has been obvious for years at this point, Waldo. He very clearly spelled out his side in his original post.

And my post was not in response to you. Why do you insist on responding like it was?

You must have ignored him because my post was in response to cyberbob.

Chill dude I was not referring to you. Bob said that it was clear that he only got better because his playing time was decreased. He then called out "the usual suspects" that would come out to defend him.

That was what I was responding to.

oh i am sorry.
you are right.
it was 'bob'.
i ignored him, so i thought you were writing to me.
which made me wonder what you were talking about.

He played better to end the year. If he doesn’t improve he doesn’t. Either way we need two more linebackers soooooo

So what you are saying is your post is carved in stone and anything anyone says positive about him is just fodder and false

He is one of those that pretty much said Jaylon would never be anything- and one of those that would rather he fail then be proven wrong

Run at Lee until he breaks?

Sounds like a good way to average 0 ypc on your way to a loss.

Because if he doesn’t “break” during your game, then your offense is screwed.

I would target a technical first year player that is limited due to a major injury he is currently recovering from over an all-pro 7 days out of the week including holidays.

We will see a slight increase this year. He should be better conditioned and smarter.
