Depending what happens this year with our DEs - or lack there of. We need DE and Cornerback early. Next year HAS to be a defensive draft ! (Been saying that for years now).
At 30, how many good years do you give Lee ?

Not getting my hopes up for this pick until they say he can play again.

He was the best player in the draft IMO but I don't trust this staff to get 2nd round picks right so I'll just wait.
When was the last time we did get a 2nd round pick right? Lol.

I'm with you as far as expectations. There is still a chance he may never play.

I sure hope so, can you imagine those two playing together !

We're taking this walk, together...I'm a former college linebacker. I am hoping strongly with you. Some really exciting stuff there, for sure.

Guys like him, zeke, and b jones, oh and the Oline.. The future is mighty bright.

What has B Jones done? He doesnt even have a pick in the NFL yet. We dont know that Smith will even play again or if he will be 100%. Without Romo this team is 4-12 at best. Romo has a few more years left tops. We have no solution to replacing him anywhere in sight. Jones continues to blow 2nd round picks at an alarming rate and we get very little from the draft outside the first round. How is that a bright future?

I want a play making OLB in next years draft.

Match him up with Lee and Smith to form a truly great set of LB's.

Love the idea, but who is going to rush the passer and who is going to cover the WR's? If Smith turns out then we will have two great LBers. Enough there. We have bigger needs on defense else where. Unless of course, he is far and away the BPA.

What about WR? We have 2 guys up for renewal next season, neither of which I really want to bring back. Butler has yet to make me change my mind. But im done with the Williams experiment.

Who said anything about rushing the passer or covering the WR's?

My post was specific to the LB position and getting a impact OLB to form a great LB core.

Jaylon Smith and Sean Lee likely will handle most package needs. But the linebacker group is a very important unit. One more top level linebacker, and the depth is already youthful and deep.

Because if your using a top pick or the top pick to get a great LB, then that means you are not using that pick where its really needed. Pass rusher and Corner.

Who knows maybe A LB core like Dallas had a long time ago with DD Lewis, Lee Roy Jordan and Chuck Howley. That would be sweet. Right now hoping Jaylon a fully recovery

Cmon buddy are we really going to trickle this one out?

Ok so your talking about using a lower round pick on a stud play making LBer? How realistic is that track record?

Whats the deal with these reporters? How do you interview garrett and smith and ask neither about the status of his nerve recovery specifically (motor, sensory, nerve conduction studies....).
