Dude, if the likes of Bobby Carpenter, Jesse Solomon, Anthony Fieldings, Darryl Hardy and Bruce Carter have worn #54, and the number still has "justice", then Jaylon Smith wearing it hasn't lessened it anymore than those guys did.

I'm of a mind that no numbers should be retired. Technically, the Cowboys haven't retired any numbers - they just haven't reissued 8 and 12. 74 is issued during training camp, but not during the regular season.
