Jeff Cavanaugh's Draft Board

Am I reading this right? He has 5'8" 180 4.61 40 lb Ar'Darius Washington in the first round over Grant and Moehrig?
yes. if you watch his videos he is convinced that AW is a baller.

Washington is an extremely instinctive safety and a turnover machine. He’ll find a role somewhere. Bob Sanders was 5’8.

I posted a few months ago I thought he was probably the best safety in the draft, as far as talent and instincts go. I think he’d be a high first round pick if he was a couple inches taller.
You and I had this debate at the time and I was shocked he came out.

Ar'darius is a slot CB. He has very little single high experience which he likely needs to go before Day 3. I think he is round 5.

Bob Sanders ran a 4.35 40. He also weighted over 200 pounds.

AW's struggle isn't just height.

Is that Marvin Wilson at DT in the 2nd over Nixon who he has in the 4th?

Wilson is a slug. He has talent but is lazy and not very focused. I watched him get utterly dominated by the ND DL and those are the kind of lineman he’s going to see all the time in the NFL.
agree PASS on Wilson. He reminds me of Albert Haynsworth. NUFF SAID.

His pro day numbers are unreal
I really like this kid. More and more I see him on film, he looks the part. Hes just a mauler that has some it factor to him. He wont wow you but he will do his job and find the ball carrier often. Love the push he gets at the point.

It kinda makes me cringe with the number of WRs on the list. I agree w Slater over Sewell. That list is a total smoke screen: no QBs other then 2, no rbs, no defense other then Parsons, weak cb picks, who the heck at edge rusher makes me think edge is the pick, no FS, no dt before round 2 and only one....haha someone actually spent time making this misinformation

Okay. I get the concept that he is a good college player but draft boards are about the potential as NFL players. Does he really believe Washington has more potential as an NFL safety than Moehrig?

I wouldnt sleep on Horn either, this is not the first time i have seen Horn as CB1.

Yeah, he believes his instincts, etc. compensate for his lack of ideal measurables. He recognizes that a lot of people will discount AW due to his size. I have noticed in his mocks though that he generally takes Moehrig or Grant in earlier rounds and AW later. So not sure if that is just because he thinks AW will still be there in the real draft or if he isn't being true to his rankings.
From the tape he showed, if you get AW in late second or third you probably got a bargain (my opinion).

Just trying to think of a very successful 180lb NFL safety. Having a hard time coming up with one..

Best I can find is Mathieu - 5-9 and 190 lbs. Close, maybe Washington can add 10 lbs. But Mathieu ran a 4.5, Washington will have to get faster also, and at his size now adding weight and speed is a tall task.

Just too many negatives for me to consider him anywhere earlier than the 4th round...

Not saying I know who it is, but there is probably a gem of player in the middle of that edge column.

Matter of luck sometimes.

Like him or not, JC knows his stuff

With that said, i dont agree with him with the Ardarius Washington nonsense
