NFL.com's Adam Shefter reports that Jeff Fisher is not expected to get a contract extension.

This runs contrary to nearly every report out of Tennessee. Perhaps it's Fisher's decision. He may want to test coaching free agency after next season.

This doesn't do us any good.

He is still bound to Tennessee for 2007.

And this foolishness about actually hiring a lame duck is just that: foolishness.

I lump Fisher with the other coaches that are definitely NOT coming to Dallas such as...

Bill Cowher
Lovie Smith
Charlie Weis
Jimmy Johnson

if this was true, and Adams was smart, (he isn't), I would take draft picks or cash to let Fisher out of his contract this year. That way he gets something for Fisher this year or nothing for him next year.

Well if the Titans aren't interested in giving Fisher an extention then it's stupid to not allow the Cowboys to spend the money to have him...

From what I have read and heard,, this is more to do about the front office than his coaching. Fisher wants complete control of the team and the FO has not been willing to give it to him, so far.

Floyd Reese is gone and the idea is to give Fisher more control.

Bud Adams still lives in Houston and the last thing he wants to do is give the other major metropolitan area his coach....Adams has always hated the Cowboys, because he lives in the step-child city in Texas to DFW.

It certainly appears however to be exactly what the case is. Quite odd.
