You know we reaching when we are talking about Heath's play... I saw dudes wide open in the middle of the field all day. Though he's getting better.

Let's not get too excited.. We still need to draft a safety...

Nah. Not too excited bro. But I have to give credit where it's due. Heath has taken a disaster and made it into an opportunity. He was supposed to be a project this year and he is on the field making plays.

He definitely has a lot of room for improvement, but seems to have a nose for the football.

Man bonehead play by Wilcox true but I'm not giving up on him this early. There is potential there.

my internet feed shut down when he made whatever stupid play he made so i did not get to see it.

but i will say i did see what he did to jones last week and it was dirty and uncalled for.

Heath sure is around the ball a lot. He needs to get a lot stronger. I don't like seeing him going for piggyback rides and throwing guys down by their waists, but he's got decent range, and he seems to be a smart player with the right attitude.

Wilcox, don't worry. They're angry because of your stupid, stupid penalty that was effectively a third turnover for us. Make a play next week, and you'll get your own thread like Jeff Heath just did. :)

Heath is a keeper, good range and some nice speed. Not there yet but this yr of experience will only help him next year. If Matt Johnson can ever stay healthy would be interesting to see.

I almost made a Heath thread earlier..lol. The guy that was considered a "project" earlier this season and thrust into the fire is acquitting himself well after looking plain overmatched earlier this season. He was making plays today from the Safety position! What a beautiful sight to see... An offseason in the weight training program and a full TC at a slightly bulkier weight should do him some good. I'd like to see him about 10-15lbs bulkier with no loss of speed.

He is listed at 6-1, 209. I don't think he needs to add much weight. Maybe 5 lbs.

I posted this in the game thread... but figured nobody would see it there.

Good to see the kid making plays out there because earlier this year was hard to watch. At that point, wasn't nowhere to go but up with Heath.

What was his 40?

Forty 4.48, vert 37, 3-cone 6.88

He has near prototype measureables for an NFL Safety.

I think Wilcox will be good next year. He came in as a rookie from a small college that had only played Safety for 1 year. His Mother died during training camp and then he got injured. He had one of the best performances in 1-on-1 drills at the Senior Bowl practices that I've seen. He was better than some of the CBs covering WRs.

I give Heath credit for basically coming out of nowhere being thrust into a starting role. He has steadily improved over the season. Still think we need better safeties. Perhaps Heath can be a good backup and STs ace.

Would Heath start on a quality defense? I do like that he has matured quickly but I still don't think he is anymore than a backup/STer, which isn't a bad thing.
