In the spirit of the season we all need to remember that even consensus slam dunk, can't fail, anyone who says differently is a fool prospects .... can also be busts.

Leading up to that draft any mention that he might not be a generational talent was dismissed as foolishness.

Here we are 3 years later and he's traded for a fifth round pick. A #3 overall for a fifth round pick. He struggled from his first practice. Yes, he's had some injuries but they haven't been the culprit. He just isn't as good as folks thought he was. Okudah has allowed a completion rate of 71% on 56 targets in coverage, giving up 665 yards and two touchdowns in just 10 games played.

As much as the grand slam picks like Parsons can propel you forward, spending a high pick on a player that completely busts can set you back. It is really difficult for an organization to overcome. Thankfully this one wasn't ours.

There was actually talk Okudah might fall. Alot of talk that Henderson would go ahead of him. Okudah was a pretty weak top 5 CB

There’s a guy here who said Wentz was the best QB in his class and another who said Parsons would be a bust. Another guy said Kellen Moore was going to be the next great Cowboys QB. All these guys also said Dak sucks.

We've got our own in Claiborne. And we traded extra to move up to get him.

That's why I don't worry too much about who is taken. You have all the fussing about a Travis Frederick or Tyler Smith being taken too soon. Or about missing this player or that player. I hope for the best with every players we choose and then wait to see how it turns out.

Now, I think we all get to dreaming because that's part of what this time of year is all about, but we also need to remember the realities.

Well, the guy who said Kellen Moore was going to be the next great Cowboys QB was an unabashed Boise State homer, so I'm not sure that one counts. He probably thinks if we'd focus on drafting just from Boise State, we could dominate the Super Bowl for years.

For Okudah, he does look much improved. He seems to be learning the game and looked much improved. He was everywhere against Dallas making tackles

Okudah played well until Thanksgiving where he got concussed and then played poorly after he came back.

That wasn't my experience. Everyone on this site and every media source I watched touted him as maybe the best player in the draft.

Not saying you are wrong, just saying I didn't encounter this.

I was actually not convinced he was all that and was called many names when I suggested as much.

I didn't get the Okudah ranking and high pick.

I posted before that draft that I would draft Diggs at #17 over other CBs and over that pass rusher K'Lavon Chaisson that many people mocked to the Cowboys.

I liked the athleticism of C.J. Henderson but didn't trust him.

1st round CB's outside Terrell were awful.

2nd round CB's (Johnson, Diggs, Fulton) were expectational. Diggs and Fulton are both examples of good prospects getting overly analytzed and critiqued. Diggs was a potential "system player" and Fulton wasnt good enough at anything. Diggs, we all know about him. Fulton may be the most underrated CB in the NFL

That one still hurts…another miss on a can’t miss prospect.

Looking back the 4.5 40 should’ve been a red flag for someone considered a blue chipper.
If I’m not mistaken, we would’ve taken Michael Brockers and Bobby Wagner if we didn’t trade for him

Sure
Unless this is someone's 1st year to ever follow the NFL draft, this is stuff everyone in this forum knows.
Of course, there are busts....every single year

Don't be surprised if Okudah ends up being a multi-year Pro-Bowler before all is said and done
There are plenty of far worse cases than him, but he has been disappointing
And another "of course"....the term generational talent is WAY overused
