Jenkins says reports about his inability to throw passes were off base

the passes were thrown with his right hand...from his surgically repaired right shoulder but he couldnt throw well right handed regardless

What he also said was he was annoyed about the Jenkins situation because Jenkins and Felix has the exact same procedure performed (word from the trainers) and one was cleared to practice and the other is on PUP still rehabbing.

It still helps for focus on the ball by a defender. They still have to catch the ball. Even linebackers go through catching drills and diving drills to break up the ball or intercept the ball in a layout position.

Unless he's starting, I can't see him re-signing with Dallas no matter the money. However, I can see Jones trying to re-sign him if he plays well. The Cowboys already have seen the need for more than two top corners.

it's not an issue of strength. it's neuromuscular. he could throw just fine with that arm, if he spent two years teaching it how to make the motion. same as learning to write with your off hand.

They may have had a similar category of disorder or even injury to the same structure but that doesn't really mean they have exactly the same injury or the same expected course of recovery. It also doesn't mean one will have some complications and the other one doesn't. It also doesn't mean their bodies will heal at the same rate.

I really do suspect Jenkins' injury was probably much more extensive than Felix's. My guess is that Jenkins had major labral damage but Felix didn't. Jenkins' tear may also have been larger for all we know.

I do agree it seems as though he had a bit of a fit in the offseason with the Cowboys investing so much in the CB position with Claiborne and Carr and then he doesn't get extended. I think the big issue is there was uncertainty about how he would recover, how his body will hold up over more seasons in the NFL and whether he would continue to have inconsistency issues. For that reason the club took the offer to trade up and grab Claiborne when an attractive offer was floated in front of him and almost everyone agrees that it was a good deal to trade up for just a second rounder.

At this point Jenkins needs to be counseled that he is auditioning for the Cowboys and everyone else in the league for a starting CB spot. If he can win it here, and he will be given that opportunity, it will drive up his value come next FA season. Even if he can't beat out Carr or Claiborne to start he can still earn snaps and playing time and impress everyone with his coverage skills.

FYI, Felix was not cleared to practice. Not for his shoulder though.

Jenkins probably should have been here to work with our staff but I don't think you can enforce it in the offseason. It was probably to his detriment to some degree but he may have been getting very good treatment under the supervision of Dr. Andrews for all we know.

Anyhow, he is here now and he makes this team better if he can return to his 2009 and 2011 form. I do think he is a top 20 CB in the league right now so if he plays up that form this season he'll be a rich man in 2013. Unfortunately, no matter how well he plays we probably can't re-sign him without blowing our salary cap structure. I do think the team did the right thing by drafting a CB high but I'd have been happy with one of the guys in the second round.
