With Tnew out vs Chargers, Jenkins more than likely will be matched up against their #1 WR Vincent Jackson

Opinions?

My opinion is that it's going to be an unmemorable afternoon for Mr. Jenkins. :D

Not if Jackson doesn't get the stick out of his rear end that he's had up there the last 3 or 4 weeks... The way he has been playing LATELY, he's less of a threat than Malcolm Floyd...

Both Jackson and Jenkins are good at going up in the air for the ball, I'd like to see that match up on time... Just not in this game :D

They have a lot of good receiving options:
Jackson, Floyd, Gates, Nanee, Sproles, and LT

So I think Jenkins will find himself matched up with several guys. I like him a lot, but I don't want to see Jenkins on an island vs VJax very often. Teams have been doubling him lately anyway, so Floyd has been running free...and he is very good too.

Jenkins isn't gonna be able to take him one on one.

Not in a cage, but in a ring I think his odds would be improved.

Jenkins will be fine against jackson.... but with newman out I could see Floyd and Gates having huge games. River's if he's smart will stay away from Mike Jenkins, because Jenkins is now a top five corner in the entire NFL.

I feel very comfortable with Mike Jenkins in coverage, he stays in good position and has shown the ability to turn and find the ball.

you can't be that much of a homer.

He thinks Austin is the best receiver in the NFL and better than Rice or Irvin.

What he said here was pretty mild for him.

It doesn't matter, KB will be in Rivers face all day..

Gates is the guy I'm most worried about. He's easily the best receiving threat at TE we have faced in years.

Now with Newman out or gimpy, you have to worry about whoever is the #2 CB.

I have no worries at all about Jenkins. He's as rock solid at CB we've had in a long time.

Obviously, generating some sort of pass rush is huge this week.

Considering the Newman thing is confirmed yet. I won't even bother with that.

Not one Chargers players concerns me.

It's the team the Dallas Cowboys that concern me and what is going to show up to play.

Dallas comes into this game focused ready to go. It's a win.

It should be a really nice match up when they wind up locked up. I'm looking forward to that one. :)

LOL. That would be awesome. Of course we both know you were just talking smack back at a Chargers fan.

Why not? Jenkins has been pretty darn good I think he could take him pretty well.

I took it as he was joking. I would think he was anyway.

LOL. That's true. I'd forgotten that this kid actually believed that Austin was the best WR of all time.

This should probably be a thread....

Just for grins...and this is an honest question...in what areas is Dallas > SD this season?

Quarterback?
exclude Dallas and SD fans and 80% would say Rivers

Running Back?
I like our youth, but based on performance it's a tossup at best.

Wide Receivers?
Again pretty close.

Tight End?
Gates and Witten are two of the very best....Gates has been better this year, but Wit is coming on...tossup, at least until MB steps it up.

Off. Line?
pretty even

Defensive Line?
pretty even

Linebackers?
Both very good

Secondary?
Right now, they may be better...overall, it's close

Return games?
Sproles trumps what we have this year

Kicking game?
PK--Keading for sure this year.
Punt--tossup?

For sure we have no clear cut advantage in any single one of those areas, but I may rate us better than some folks nationally.

No, I never said he is better than Irvin, no one can be better than Irvin, he can be as good as Irvin I said.

Miles Austin is not the best WR in NFL History, I said he has the potential to be one of the best in NFL History.

Don't just take part of the statement please, Mike Jenkins has the potential to be one of the best CB's in NFL History. Enjoy flaming all my posts with that one aswell!

I like this matchup if it happens, I think Jenkins will shutdown Vincent Jackson, I think that Rivers will under-estimate Jenkins and he will get a pick or two because of it.
