Jeremy Lusk, 24, Dies of Injuries Sustained in Crash

Professional motorcycle rider Jeremy Lusk died Monday of injuries sustained in a crash in Costa Rica. The crash can be viewed below, but the video is very disturbing.
Pete Thomas of the Los Angeles Times reports that Lusk, who was from Temecula, died in a hospital in San Jose, Costa Rica, late Monday night, surrounded by his wife, his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law and several fellow riders.

Rider Myles Richmond, who also participated in the event in Costa Rica, told ESPN.com his version of what happened:
The event went on. I actually made top four in the finals, so we had to ride again. I couldn't go out there and do my regular run, so I just basically went out and did some whips. The riders were just in disbelief. We all know how tough Jeremy is and we were just trying to stay positive, but it was tough. We knew how bad his injury was, but we just didn't want to believe what had just happened. ... I thought that if anyone was invincible, it was Jeremy.
Lusk was 24 years old.

RIP Jeremy....:( You were one heck of a rider.

I didn't want to link the crash. It is very hard to watch. My prayers are with his wife and family.

You beat me to it. This is why his feats were awesome. Can you imagine just trying it for the first time? I watched the video. One minute you are here and then you're gone. :(

This is a shame, but it goes with the territory.............

It's not an sky diving "accident" if you decide to jump out of plane and HOPE that the mechanism on your back works.

It's not a bungy-cord "accident" if you jump off a bridge and HOPE the rubber band around your waist works.

It's not a scuba diving "accident" if you go swimming 130ft. below the sea and HOPE all your gear functions.

It's not a firework "accident" if you deliberately light the fuse of an explosive, wait too long, and lose a finger or two.

It's all part of the "rush" you're supposed to get participating in activities like this. It's a terrible thing about this guy, but man was not meant to be doing back-flips attached to a 300lb, 500cc two-wheeled machine. I say this because I've read several articles about this where it's called an "accident". An "accident" is when a safe falls out of the sky and hits you. Or, that plane in Buffalo this morning landing on your house.

Something you had nothing to do with and didn't propagate or plan in any way is an "accident". But, if you attach a kite to your back, jump off of a cliff, and go "hang-gliding".....................and something goes wrong, that's not an "accident"...............................
