It's an odd number because the standard fine has gone up by a certain percentage each year since the CBA set the original figure.

Strictly about being dumb, sure. I just think it's lame from the nfl punishment side. I don't get that Suh after getting that ridiculous over-turn because it was the playoffs still didn't have to sit for the season opener. And then he went and kicked someone else in that game.

It was $8,700. However, I heard the NFL was having a special "September To Remember" promotion that runs through September 28th, which allowed him to save a few bucks.
