With Mike Shanahan fired, Jerry Jones now has the chance to bring a great coach to the Cowboys and silence those(including my smart little mouth), who question whether his loyalty is to is ever growing ego or the Cowboys. If Jones names Shanahan the next coach, I will be more than willing to give the man mad props. If he hires Shanahan, even the harshest of anti-Jerra people would have to give him props on that move.

Jerra has a chance to come out looking real good, hire a coach that gives us a real strong chance at winning some more Super Bowls, and making himself look like a smart GM which would do wonders for his huge ego. And he would make any rational critic eat some crow. It is all up to you Jerra, bring in Shanahan and you fill your new stadium and regain the faith of many of us who you are losing. Can your ego take bringing in Shanahan? If you love the Cowboys and winning as much as you make us believe you do, Shanahan will be on the sidelines for 2009. Make it happen.

lol Why? So that after Shanahan goes 13-3 you all will want him fired?

But what about the continuity? Gotta preserve that, and with Shanahan, it's not preserved.

Why do we always knee-jerk into wanting Jerry Jones to bring in the big-name guys? that's what Jerry's been doing hte last several years --- bringing in coaches AND players with "names". I'm just sayin!

Mike Shanahan could be dead and he would still be a better coach than Wade.

That may be, but continuity, Batman. You must think of it.

Not a knee jerk, from 13-3 with no play-off win to 9-7 to no play-off play at all.

Wade was not a big name, if you would rather have Wade instead of Mike enjoy that giant cupcake in your signature, you will get more of the same.

The only continuity Wade gives us is more losing and we will be the tease of 2009, just like '08 and '07. What would Wade get us for '09??? I think at very best 7-9 and maybe with a Divine intervention we could see 8-8 to go .500.

Shanahan, at worst we are a Wild Card at 10-6.

i think the problem with wade is not just that he had a bad record, but the fact that he couldnt keep this team united or competitive.

With our talent, Shanahan could get 10 wins in his freaking sleep.

Seriously.

I agree. Shanahan would be a great fit.

Thank you. I am glad to see other fans like you who will not accept continuing medicrity from Wade, and would rather see the upcoming of a dominating Super Bowl team under Shanahan.

Are some of these people joking in wanting to stay with Wade over Shanahan? That would be like saying I would rather get kicked in the nads than to be kissed by some mad hottie.

While I'm all for continuity, Shanny does offer an interesting opportunity.

I want Shanahan too but bashing Jerry Jones is stupid. Jerry brought Bill Parcells here. Apparentlly you just glossed that over because Parcells is more headstrong than Shanahan or any other coach. Jones not only hired Parcells but allowed him to bring his own players unless you forgot about Vinny Testaverde and Drew Bledsoe being our starting QB's....yeah, I'm sure those were Jerry's decisions. Do you really think Jerry was thrilled with spending two first round picks on defensive ends in one draft? Do you think Jerry liked the conservative ball control offense? Jerry has already silenced his critics. I don't want Wade Phillips either and I think it's a dumb decision to keep him but Jerry isn't keeping him because he thinks Wade is a lousy coach than he can control. Jerry genuinely believes in him and feels that a new coach would destroy whatever potential we have. I don't agree with Jerry's view but I understand where he is coming from.

That's my issue as well.

I think the Super Bowl-or-bust season that turned into a woeful no-playoff season is a big strike against Wade. But the knockout blow, to borrow a different sports cliche, is the fact that it seems so clear through various player comments the past month that he has lost control of this team.

I don't blame just Wade, but I don't buy the theory that he recapture this group of players.

All that shows is the acumen of his critics. Shanahan likes smaller more mobile linemen which at the end of the day we dont have. Also if you bring him in you better have one heck of a DC lined up or it'll just be the same crap as has been going on in Denver for the last decade.
