Jerrah states we're in the hunt for the title... this year

I think folks around here would really have a problem if Jerry said,"We aren't in the hunt this year we suck don't bother watching us this year." I wouldn't like it anyway.

Folks around here have a problem with everything that comes out of Jerry's mouth, whichever way it goes, even though most of it has absolutely no impact on the team.

I think some truly believe, "Jerry says we're in the hunt for the title. We're doomed!"

People have different reasons for these desires. Mine, when I do go hunting, which is rare, is food.

Which is fine. And others will say that if you don't control the population, these animals will suffer a worse fate, like starvation. But you and I both know that the vast majority of hunters do their thing because of less noble desires. Which I will never understand.

People do a lot of things which I will never understand. Some of those things are legal too.

What's with the desire to just randomly blow something away that is doing absolutely nothing to you?

To eat it?

Are you vegan?

I guess I don't have to really answer that one. Thanks gentlemen.

It's challenging and it's not about the killing of the animal persay...it's about the hunt, the skills, the meal.

Do you go fishing 2323 ? I have to be the worst fisherman of all time. A rod, line and hook will net me a 5 oz. fish everytime, that I throw back.

But if I ever went deep sea fishing, I can't say that I would typically eat them, I would let them go.

My only problem with this is that we should be in the hunt every year. It should go without being said. Like one other poster said though, I'd rather hear him say we're going after it then we're not.

At the risk of talking in a complete circle, it could also help if he were to say we won't be going to the playoffs with the way the team is playing. Maybe that will light a fire under some *****. Who knows, this isn't really a big deal though.

Hey, I have an idea.

How about the owner/GM/walkaround coach say nothing and let the head coach be the voice of the team?

Yes, that's already been covered. As I said in my previous post, I have no problem with that. And as I also thought I had made clear earlier, I am asking more about the desire to do so simply for the sport of it, which is what many hunters are doing, regardless if they choose to admit it or not. Instilling fear and pain in something and ultimately causing an animal's death just for entertainment purposes does not seem very sporting to me. It seems really, really wrong on so many levels.

Nope. But I fully support raising and then killing cows, etc. in the most humane way possible, without fear, without pain. Give them a really good life beforehand, make sure it's done quickly and painlessly at the end.

Haven't in a while, precisely for that reason. But I do get the thrill of that, something about feeling a big fish at the end of the line that's pretty exhilarating. But yes, I always throw it back. Always. There are enough animals dying out there without some goof like me getting involved.

You've obviously never slaughtered an animal or been to a slaughter house. Those animals know somethings up and I'd bet a huge sum of money they are scared. They certainly act like it. And killing them isn't always that humane either.

Most people eat what they shoot. And I don't hunt anymore either, BTW.

I like that idea and it's an idea I'd prefer but I've come to realize it will never happen.

I think it would be better for Jerry to just shut up and not say a thing.

Just what I feared - the 'ohhh look we almost beat dem der Ravens!' logic has gotten to Jerry's head.

"All of those things give us a chance to take a team that is, if you look at the pluses (Sunday), evolving into a team that can compete for the championship. Not next year. This year."

Why would Jerry say anything else? Did you expect him to say maybe next year and just hope people will continue to buy tickets?

Hostile;4790387 said:
I've got no issues with him saying that. It neither harms nor helps the team. It sells copy.

So what?

Jerry owns the team so he can say whatever he wants.

I'm not surprised he pumps the team's chances in public. But in private, I hope he and Jason are more realistic about what this team can and can't accomplish this year. Look, I'd be tickled pink if the Cowboys went 9-7 and won the Super Bowl.

Unfortunately, I think my odds of winning the lottery are better than the odds of Dallas winning the Super Bowl.

It's teams like last years Giants that gives Jerry hope. play .500 football Sept. thru Nov., then light it up in Dec. and January. And February. The difference is the Giants KNOW they can do it.

Exactly. With few exceptions, games in December and January has been especially tough on the Cowboys. When they show signs of life over the last quarter of a season, maybe then I'll have some hope for this team.

The problem is that the team's general manager seems to think play 9-7 ball and get hot at the end of the year is some sort of replicable winning strategy, rather than doing the hard work of building a team. Jerry prefers the shortcut, and for him, hope is a strategy.

I mean, why pay for good offensive linemen when it's all luck, anyway?
