He's saying if the Owner wasn't an egotistical lunatic who needs to be the voice of this team we wouldn't be in this situation.

He's right.

Come on! Even you know that being the 'voice of this team' has absolutely zero effect on the won-loss record.

If you want to blame Jones for running the team poorly, that is another discussion completely. One just cannot take everything that Jones does that is not liked on a personal level and morph that into an effect on victories or losses. Some semblance of good sense is required.

The problem is that the team's general manager seems to think play 9-7 ball and get hot at the end of the year is some sort of replicable winning strategy, rather than doing the hard work of building a team. Jerry prefers the shortcut, and for him, hope is a strategy.
