Jerry: “We go as Zeke goes. He’s as important as he was before the game.”

The difference in speed and ability to change directions is undeniable. Pollard can get to and through holes that Zeke can't. As demonstrated today, Zeke leaves a lot of yards on the table. He also isn't the bruiser he was a few years ago, blowing people back. The whole "wear teams down" thing isn't a thing anymore.

If Dallas does something this year, and they might, it will be in spite of Zeke not because of him.

Jerry has no choice but to have blind loyalty towards Zeke given the contract he gave him. Clearly, it was the wrong decision to sign him as he has been on the decline ever since; but we all know Jerry’s ego and his need to save face, so he will always talk-up Zeke.
Let’s hope Jerry isn’t blinded to the extent he lets Pollard walk, or insult him with some low-ball offer touting the advantage of no state tax in TX.

Yep, Zeke is leaving a lot of meat on the bone.

Am I the only one that wants to keep zeke and pollard.. I actually think they work well as a combo and our offence goes per our run game.

Yes.. I’d rather get fresh legs in the draft and replace Zeke.

His best asset for the Cowboys at this point is his blocking. He’s not that good of a runner anymore.

Oh btw does anyone still want to use the dumb analogy about Pollard being Joseph Randle or Troy Hambrick?

He’s a backup for the Cowboys so we have to relate him to someone else that’s played here he couldn’t be totally different than them.

IMO, the logical plan is to draft another RB in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round, re-sign Pollard to a reasonable 3 yr deal and cut Zeke.

....

Just so everyone knows, cutting Zeke saves $5m off the cap next year but he would still have an $11.8m cap hit.

An alternative might be to sit down with him and offer to reduce his base salary from $10m to $3m, which I doubt he could get as a free agent. He might go for that, save more capspace and keep him around for nostalgia purposes I guess.

Was there one time today during the game you thought to yourself “Hey, we really needed Zeke in there for that play”? Be honest - there wasn’t. NOT A SINGLE ONE.

Zeke's destiny is already sealed after the season. Since getting his massive extension he hasn't lived up to it. He will be a post June cut to save salary cap space.

On paper or in a vacuum where money isn’t a factor?

Sure.

But I’d want to redistribute the touches to be 60:40 with Pollard getting the ball more.
