The fact that he doesn't foresee DT as a draft need just reminds you of what a colossal football idiot he really is.

He's not an overall idiot. You don't build his fortune being dumb but in terms of football personnel he is Simple Jack.

So to summarize the most important stuff:

1. No chance for Zeke to come back. Its over, see ya!!!!
2. Jones sees Tyron and Steele really as one tackle with one of them, whomever healthy being the swing tackle.
3. Going into the draft being able to take the best player at SELECTIVE POSITIONS.

Good luck with that 3rd one, but I took it as they are in position to take the BPA at a few positions that they need.

Yep, he is a business genius that has no idea how to run a football team like a true football man. He runs it on theories and emotion and not on instinct.

  • Jones has had a long-standing friendship with Washington owner Dan Snyder over the years. With Snyder, Jones was asked about the current status of his friendship with Snyder and a potential ownership change with the Washington Commanders. "It's a little more formal," Jones said of his friendship with Snyder currently. "But I think it's that way because of the various issues that are involved here. It's not lovie dovie, but it's not really strained in any way. Nothing, there have been no issues that have come up regarding the team or Dan that have created any compromising things for us. I, at the end of the day, have a little different thoughts than you read a lot about Dan, but that's understandable when you're friends. But my overall, overriding interest is that Washington team, and that Washington area, have the kind of team that they are and should be. It's one of our top handful of franchises in this country. It's a national treasure. It really is. It's the team in our nation's capital, it's highly visible and creates a unique perspective for fans as to the NFL."

Oh no. Don't ignore this.

Your owner thinks the Skins are a national treasure.

Discuss.

Not sure this is a controversial take. They are one of the great franchises.
The great NFL franchises are as follows (in no particular order):

Cowboys
Steelers
Packers
49ers
and now the Patriots

The rest are in a big clump.

It's fairly interesting that Jerry Jones has stated here that he "doesn't see entering the draft with a need at defensive tackle." Of course, such a remark doesn't rule out answering the need for hiring a veteran DT before the draft begins. Whether that leaves the door open for the hiring of Hankins, or anyone else as a DT before the draft gets under way. It does seem that it's not his intention to enter the draft with intentions of acquiring a DT during that process, though.

Welp..........
Well he's not wrong. They did great in passrush, and once Hankins and Watkins got inserted in the rotation the run defense was actually really good. They were dead last by a good margin before the trade, they finished 22. That's a big jump and Hankins only played in 5 games.

And they have to let the guys they have play. They're still on rookie deals. Osa, gholston, bohanna, Williams, Micah. That's a great core going into the future to go with Hankins, gallimore, Fowler, armstrong.

Man, that DT comment really sounds dumb.
But can it be just Jerry draft speak? Normally I would say yes, but since it has been an ongoing issue as s was for years, and years. I don't see them addressing the biggest issue with the team.
Well, the biggest issue is the guys at the top. But on the field it is DT.

They also ignored the S issue as well, as to drafting one. Sure they brought in Hooker and Kearse both coming off of injuries, and lucked into Wilson with a 6th round pick. Though it took them longer than usual for him to get his chance.

I really hope they get a DT though, but not looking forward they will. It makes looking forward to the draft anti-climatic in a way.
But I will be glad when the draft does get here. A month away.

I translate it as . . . They will acquire one before Draft. . . so that Position will not be a position of need . . . but in no way does it mean they will ignore the position

As a 13th topic, I want to know why a mid-1990s John Goodman is following Jerry around. Did he tell him that he's out of his element?
